Restrict FunctionDeclarations in Statement position ES2015 generally bans FunctionDeclarations in positions which expect a Statement, as opposed to a StatementListItem, such as a FunctionDeclaration which constitutes the body of a for loop. However, Annex B 3.2 and 3.4 make exceptions for labeled function declarations and function declarations as the body of an if statement in sloppy mode, in the latter case specifying that the semantics are as if the function declaration occurred in a block. Chrome has historically permitted further extensions, for the body of any flow control construct. This patch addresses both the syntactic and semantic mismatches between V8 and the spec. For the semantic mismatch, function declarations as the body of if statements change from unconditionally hoisting in certain cases to acquiring the sloppy mode function in block semantics (based on Annex B 3.3). For the extra syntax permitted, this patch adds a flag, --harmony-restrictive-declarations, which excludes disallowed function declaration cases. A new UseCounter, LegacyFunctionDeclaration, is added to count how often function declarations occur as the body of other constructs in sloppy mode. With this patch, the code generally follows the form of the specification with respect to parsing FunctionDeclarations, rather than allowing them in arbitrary Statement positions, and makes it more clear where our extensions occur. [turbofan] Variable liveness analysis for deopt. This change introduces a liveness analyzer for local variables in frame states. The main idea is to use the AstGraphBuilder::Environment class to build the control flow graph, and record local variable loads, stores and checkpoints in the CFG basic blocks (LivenessAnalyzerBlock class). After the graph building finishes, we run a simple data flow analysis over the CFG to figure out liveness of each local variable at each checkpoint. Finally, we run a pass over all the checkpoints and replace dead local variables in the frame states with the 'undefined' value. [turbofan] Deferred blocks splintering. This change encompasses what is necessary to enable stack checks in loops without suffering large regressions. Primarily, it consists of a new mechanism for dealing with deferred blocks by "splintering", rather than splitting, inside deferred blocks. My initial change was splitting along deferred block boundaries, but the regression introduced by stackchecks wasn't resolved conclusively. After investigation, it appears that just splitting ranges along cold block boundaries leads to a greater opportunity for moves on the hot path, hence the suboptimal outcome. The alternative "splinters" ranges rather than splitting them. While splitting creates 2 ranges and links them (parent-child), in contrast, splintering creates a new independent range with no parent-child relation to the original. The original range appears as if it has a liveness hole in the place of the splintered one. All thus obtained ranges are then register allocated with no change to the register allocator. The splinters (cold blocks) do not conflict with the hot path ranges, by construction. The hot path ones have less pressure to split, because we remove a source of conflicts. After allocation, we merge the splinters back to their original ranges and continue the pipeline. We leverage the previous changes made for deferred blocks (determining where to spill, for example). Initial infrastructure for fast compilation of top-level code. The fast code generator is optimized for compilation time and code size. Currently it is only implemented on IA32. It is potentially triggered for any code in the global scope (including code eval'd in the global scope). It performs a syntactic check and chooses to compile in fast mode if the AST contains only supported constructs and matches some other constraints. Initially supported constructs are * ExpressionStatement, * ReturnStatement, * VariableProxy (variable references) to parameters and stack-allocated locals, * Assignment with lhs a parameter or stack-allocated local, and * Literal This allows compilation of literals at the top level and not much else. All intermediate values are allocated to temporaries and the stack is used for all temporaries. The extra memory traffic is a known issue. The code generated for 'true' is: 0 push ebp 1 mov ebp,esp 3 push esi 4 push edi 5 push 0xf5cca135 ;; object: 0xf5cca135 <undefined> 10 cmp esp,[0x8277efc] 16 jnc 27 (0xf5cbbb1b) 22 call 0xf5cac960 ;; code: STUB, StackCheck, minor: 0 27 push 0xf5cca161 ;; object: 0xf5cca161 <true> 32 mov eax,[esp] 35 mov [ebp+0xf4],eax 38 pop eax 39 mov eax,[ebp+0xf4] 42 mov esp,ebp ;; js return 44 pop ebp 45 ret 0x4 48 mov eax,0xf5cca135 ;; object: 0xf5cca135 <undefined> 53 mov esp,ebp ;; js return 55 pop ebp 56 ret 0x4 Review URL: http://codereview.chromium.org/273050 git-svn-id: http://v8.googlecode.com/svn/branches/bleeding_edge@3067 ce2b1a6d-e550-0410-aec6-3dcde31c8c00

Support higher CPU profiler sampling rate on posix systems New flag is added that allows to specify CPU profiler sampling rate in microseconds as command line argument. It was tested to work fine with 100us interval(currently it is 1ms). Default values are kept the same as in the current implementation. The new implementation is enabled only on POSIX platforms which use signals to collect samples. Other platforms that pause thread being sampled are to follow. SIGPROF signals are now sent on the profiler event processor thread to make sure that the processing thread does fall far behind the sampling. The patch is based on the previous one that was rolled out in r13851. The main difference is that the circular queue is not modified for now. On Linux sampling for CPU profiler is initiated on the profiler event processor thread, other platforms to follow. CPU profiler continues to use SamplingCircularQueue, we will probably replace it with a single sample buffer when Mac and Win ports support profiling on the event processing thread. When --prof option is specified profiling is initiated either on the profiler event processor thread if CPU profiler is on or on the SignalSender thread as it used to be if no CPU profiles are being collected. ProfilerEventsProcessor::ProcessEventsAndDoSample now waits in a tight loop, processing collected samples until sampling interval expires. To save CPU resources I'm planning to change that to use nanosleep as only one sample is expected in the queue at any point. [Interpreter] Add option to trace bytecode execution. Adds --trace-ignition flag which allows tracing of bytecodes as they execute. As well as printing out the bytecode, this also prints out the input and output registers to each operation. The generated output looks as follows: -> 0x350cb46d5264 (139) : 49 fc fb 03 07 Call r4, r5, #3, [7] [ accumulator -> 0x177fba00bc99 <JS Array[2]> ] [ r4 -> 0x350cb46ce099 <JS Function InstallFunctions (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46470c1)> ] [ r5 -> 0x350cb46cddc1 <an Object with map 0x35fdf590a3a9> ] [ r6 -> 0x350cb46d3f11 <JS Function Proxy (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46d3e61)> ] [ r7 -> 2 ] [ accumulator <- 0x350cb4604189 <undefined> ] -> 0x350cb46d5978 (47) : 4b f8 00 00 00 CallRuntime [248], r0, #0 [ accumulator -> 0x350cb4604189 <undefined> ] [ accumulator <- 0x350cb4604189 <undefined> ] -> 0x350cb46d597d (52) : 23 09 Ldar a0 [ accumulator -> 0x350cb4604189 <undefined> ] [ a0 -> 0x350cb46d3f11 <JS Function Proxy (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46d3e61)> ] [ accumulator <- 0x350cb46d3f11 <JS Function Proxy (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46d3e61)> ] -> 0x350cb46d597f (54) : 24 fd Star r3 [ accumulator -> 0x350cb46d3f11 <JS Function Proxy (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46d3e61)> ] [ accumulator <- 0x350cb46d3f11 <JS Function Proxy (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46d3e61)> ] [ r3 <- 0x350cb46d3f11 <JS Function Proxy (SharedFunctionInfo 0x350cb46d3e61)> ] Also adds support for --print_source and --print-ast to the interpreter.
