This is a partial revert of 992f233c in Qt 4 repo. The rest of the
change cannot be reverted, since it added public API, but that
API might be useful anyway.
The patch was wrong, basically. QFont::exactMatch() should not claim
that you can get an exact match for a typeface alias. It also introduced
some weird inconsistencies: For instance, if the first font the alias
resolved to in FontConfig did not exist, then exactMatch() would return
false, even if it then resolved to the next one which existed. This
caused a test failure on OpenSuse, where the preferred font for "sans"
is Arial, which doesn't exist, so Roboto will be used instead.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Important Behavior Changes] QFont::exactMatch() now
returns false when the provided typeface is an alias.

regardless of its calculated height. If the line contains
objects or text which is higher than the specified line height,
using FixedHeight will cause them to overlap with the previous
line. This is not what happens in normal web browsers. The
expected behavior is that the line height given in CSS is the
minimum height, but that we still reserve space needed to display
everything without overlaps.
To make it possible for people to retain the old behavior, we
introduce the -qt-line-height-type property, which allows them
to override the default.
This also fixes output from toHtml() to use the new property
rather than set the minimum height of the paragraph or the
"line-spacing" property, which does not exist in either CSS nor
in Qt.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Important Behavior Changes] When line height
is specified in pixels, this is now interpreted as the minimum

Virtually all code in Qt that inspects a QRegion does
so by calling rects(), which returns a QVector<QRect>.
But rects() has a problem: A QRegion that contains just
one rectangle internally is not represented by a QVector,
and the mere act of calling rects() makes QRegion create
one.
So, expose the fact that QRegion is a container of QRects
to users by providing iterators and begin()/end(), which
can be nothrow, since for the one-rectangle case, instead
of vectorize()ing the region, we just return pointers to
(and one past) the 'extent' rectangle.
As a consequence, the iterator type is just const QRect*,
but I think that whatever containers QRegion may use under
the hood in the future, it will be certainly one that is
layout-compatible with a C array.
No mutable iterators are provided, since QRegion maintains
a running bounding-rect, so a mutable iterator would have
to call into QRegion for every change, which doesn't make
sense.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][QRegion] Is now iterable as a container
of QRects: added {c,}{r,}{begin,end}().

unless it can resolve that using native APIs. We should let the platform
window take care of resetting the focus window and related states, and
only execute our fallback logic if the plugin doesn't do the right

We also use QPA to update the state instead of modifying the internal
QGuiApplication variables directly, so that events and signals are

Without a correct app_id, Wayland compositors won't be able to e.g.
show the application icon on task managers.
This property is also very interesting for X11 as there are various
desktop environments trying to map windows to launchers.
It will be possible to export desktopFileName as a xproperty, making

(QTBUG-31579 and now QTBUG-42398). It tried to skip start-point update
if stroke() did not actually draw anything (because the segment was
too small). However, to determine that, it tested for a change in

lastPixel could be unchanged even though the segment had been

check if the image data was external, i.e. if the QImage had been
created by the constructor taking an existing external buffer.
The previous commit fixed the readonly case. But in the case of the
QImage constructor taking non-const uchar*, data will be read-write,
but still external. This would of course crash if the converter tries
to realloc it.

Currently Qt uses the QPlatformIntegration::StyleHint
SynthesizeMouseFromTouchEvents to check whether to synthesize mouse
events from touch events. But not only platform plugins can produce
touch events, they can be created by e.g. QTest::touchEvent() and in
this case we almost definitely need synthesizing regardless of the
platform.
This commit introduces a QTouchDevice::MouseEmulation capability which
replaces use of the QPlatformIntegration::SynthesizeMouseFromTouchEvents.
So it's possible to pass QTouchDevice without this capability to
QTest::touchEvent() and be sure that mouse events will be synthesized.
Notice that touch pads always emulate mouse events.
As a result we can activate some tests which were disabled for specific
platform configurations by commits 6c1670d8c2
and e9760f1559.

"In earlier versions of Visual C++, the compiler used several discrete

grows the heaps as necessary up to a total heap size limit, and requires a
fixed-size buffer only to construct precompiled headers. Consequently, the
/Zm compiler option is rarely necessary."

QPlatformTheme::keyBindings() performs a binary search
into an ordered list of StandardKey -> Key Sequence
mappings where each StandardKey can have multiple
key sequences.
Previously the order of the Key Sequences in the
returned list would be indeterministic and, except
for the designated pri-1 key sequence, would not
necessarily correspond to the list order. (The
ordering was dependent on where the binary search
"hits", which again depends on the size of the list.)
This caused trouble when adding mappings, since it
would change the order in the returned key sequence
list for existing mappings and confusingly cause
(apparently) unrelated test failures.
Fix this by replacing the manually coded binary search
with std::equal_range.
One test case needed to be fixed up because it had the
result in the wrong order (verified by looking at
QPlatformTheme::keyBindings).

use simple inline constructor functions. The name got a lower-case

were deemed not fitting in this case in the initial round of review,
since they implied some kind of conversion while these functions are
simply constructors of formsts, which contain no data.
This also solves the problem that some of these ctors could have been
called with just one argument and were therefore candidates for hidden
QPixelFormat temporary injection.
QPixelFormatRgb was renamed to qPixelFormatRgba to explain the third
argument at the call site better.

Add defaultFormat() and setDefaultFormat() statics to QSurfaceFormat.
These define the default values for the requestedFormat members of
QOpenGLContext, QWindow and QOpenGLWidget (and implicitly QOpenGLWindow,
QQuickWindow, etc.)
This replaces QQuickWindow::setDefaultFormat() which can now be removed.
The main inspiration here is not the convenience (avoiding setFormat() calls
for all windows/widgets), but robustness: by setting the format once at the start
of the application, all windows and contexts, including the internal share context
used by QOpenGLWidget and QQuickWidget, will use the same format, eliminating
the possibility of failing due to trying to share between incompatible contexts.
Furthermore, since such a functionality is anyway mandatory for QQuickWindow
(due to the possibility of creating windows from QML code), extending it to
QSurfaceFormat and QOpenGLContext/QWindow is the next logical step.

to match surrounding, proper scripts, so characters such as

The plain text edit's smart repaint logic in
QPlainTextDocumentLayout::documentChanged assumes that during a change inside
just one block, the block is in the state before the edit and a call to
layoutBlock() is going to bring it up-to-date. Then only a comparison of the
bounding rect - before and after - is going to allow for smart repaints.
The assumption of the layout being in the same state as before the edit got
broken by commit cc57a2e90f, which introduced
code to use a QTextCursor within a slot connected to QTextDocument's
contentsChange signal. The usage of the QTextCursor there ends up updating the
layout of the block ahead of time, breaking the assumption and therefore the
optimization, in the sense that during changes in the preedit that cause a
change of height / line count, the old bounding rect in
QPlainTextDocumentLayout::documentChanged and the new bounding rect will be the
same. This causes a repaint of only the edited block, missing repaints of the
following blocks, even though the line count effectively changed.
So what's causing QTextCursor to mess with the layout is the attempt of
updating the vertical movement x property. This patch inhibits the update,
marking it as dirty for initialization later. This means that slots connected
to this low-level signal cannot rely on the cursor's visual x position, but
that doesn't seem useful anyway and isn't required for commit
cc57a2e90f.

The calculation of the width/height required for the
scaling algorithm was prone to floating point rounding
issues, where the lower value got rounded down, the higher
one rounded up. This could lead to a situation where we
iterated over one more line/pixel in the line than we have
in the source image.
Correct this by passing the dimension of the source image into
the function and bounds checking the values before iterating.

* The window width was not the width specified.

This was unexpected, since if both width and height was not specified
it would fallback to becoming 160x160 (on Windows).
However, with the advent of https://codereview.qt-project.org/71999
both width and height might receive sensible defaults based on the
content of the ApplicationWindow, which would mean that it might be
reasonable to expect that you only need to specify one size component

The assertion happened when a window was created with 0 height (but
