36f182faa7 add SkStubHeifDecoderAPI.h
This should let us build SkHeifCodec even without libheif.

I didn't look at libheif itself, so this stub may disagree
a bit with the actual interface... just flailed around until
it compiled and linked.

This turns on the stub in most of our internal builds.

5411a60e0d Add an Option for orientation on JPEG encodes

not depend on SkCodec.

Add libexif, which is already used by Android, and use it to write the

Optionally enable writing the orientation (and therefore including

754271347a GPU-CTS Program
Add new application, called GPU-CTS (GPU Compatibility Test Suite),
which executes skia gms against OpenGL and Vulkan backends. Makes use
of googletest library for consistancy with Android CTS programs.

Add googletest to DEPS

gm_knowledge.h header as a stub for future work on validating gm output.

gm_runner can be re-used in other programs. Talks to Skia and GM with a
simple API.

gpuctx executable wraps gm_runner and googletest together.

54ef74ae34 Add the ability to customize skia's settings in gn
Fuchsia also builds Skia for host and wants to set various gn variables (e.g.,
skia_enable_flutter_defines) when is_linux is true. Rather than teach Skia
about all these permutations, this CL adds a skia_settings variable that can be
used by clients to customize Skia's configuration.

ebf648e57a [WASM] Add POC compile bot for WebAssembly
Fix core.gni to use not use Assembler for none cpu.

Right now, there are no outputs because we aren't compiling
dm or nanobench. However, this still compiles the skia
library and creates two executables, so it's a good canary
for a real WASM build.

Additional note: the two executables in question don't draw
anything to the screen via GL, which is still not possible with
Skia+WASM.

9b2f69b0aa grand unifried lowp stages
I have text_16_AA_FF -> 8888 (forcing RP) faster than head now on my
laptop. I'm feeling confident that we can make this perform well.

After looking at performance a bit more today, it looks like everything
is within what I'd consider comparable in performance, especially on
ARM. On x86-64 it looks like big bulk blits get a little slower and
small mask blits get a little faster.

Quality looks good, and maybe improved for 565.

There are fewer platform-specific differences now in _lowp, and I think
they're few enough now that we could even consider completing the
unification by folding the 8-bit and float code together. Rename
"div255()" to "rebias()", slap on a few coats of paint...

Guarded for Chrome with SK_JUMPER_LEGACY_LOWP.

It turns out that Skia's gn 'system' and 'third_party' templates differ

add libdl when building SkOSLibrary_posix.cpp, since that uses dlsym.
The current build depends on icu bringing in this dependency.

4f6e271596 ok, add a bench source
This new source acts like other sources (GMs, SKPs) for benchmarks. It
times multiple samples (controlled by samples=N, default 20), and each
of those samples uses the same strategy as monobench, growing loops
exponentially until it runs for at least 10ms.

When done it prints the fastest and the two slowest samples. In
practice the 100th percentile sample is very different from the
next slowest due to caching, and the fastest is always interesting.

Because these benchmarks run in whatever execution engine ok has
selected, on non-Windows platforms you have some real control over the
interaction between benchmarks. In its default "fork" mode each
benchmark runs independently in its own process, so the 100th
percentiles really stand out. The other modes "thread" and "serial"
work as you'd expect too.

Here's an example where you can see how the different interactions work:

out/ok bench:samples=100 8888 filter:search=text_16_AA fork
    [text_16_AA_WT] 2.32µs @0 6.23µs @99 24.3ms @100
    [text_16_AA_FF] 2.41µs @0 5.7µs @99 23.3ms @100
    [text_16_AA_88] 2.55µs @0 5.6µs @99 24.8ms @100
    [text_16_AA_BK] 1.97µs @0 5.44µs @99 23.2ms @100

out/ok bench:samples=100 8888 filter:search=text_16_AA thread
    [text_16_AA_FF] 2.45µs @0 23.5µs @99 24.8ms @100
    [text_16_AA_WT] 2.52µs @0 17.8µs @99 24.7ms @100
    [text_16_AA_88] 2.55µs @0 19.7µs @99 25.1ms @100
    [text_16_AA_BK] 1.8µs @0 14.7µs @99 25.1ms @100

out/ok bench:samples=100 8888 filter:search=text_16_AA serial
    [text_16_AA_88] 2.35µs @0 3.53µs @99 16.7ms @100
    [text_16_AA_FF] 2.09µs @0 2.73µs @99 2.91µs @100
    [text_16_AA_BK] 1.75µs @0 2.46µs @99 2.65µs @100
    [text_16_AA_WT] 2.1µs @0 3.16µs @99 3.17µs @100

In the first "fork" case all runs are independent and have roughly
the same profile. "thread" looks similar except you can see them
contending at the 99th percentile. In "serial", the first bench
warms up the rest, so their 100th percentiles are all much faster.

255607f094 8-bit hacking
I think we can replace a lot of legacy code with an SkRasterPipeline
backend that works in 8-bit and stays interlaced. Think of this as a
"lowerp" replacement for lowp.

I'm having some trouble getting ARMv8 working.
ARMv7 should be fine, but I want to turn it on separately from x86.
I haven't looked at 32-bit x86 yet, but that's also on the todo list.

Open questions to follow up on:
  - is it better to fold every multiply back down to 8-bit
(as seen here), or to allow intermediates to accumulate
in 16-bit and divide by 255 when done/needed?
  - is it better pass tightly packed 8-bit vectors between stages (as
seen here), or to keep the 8-bit values unpacked in 16-bit lanes?
  - should we make V wider than 1 register?

GMs look good. All diffs invisible and plausibly due to the 15->8 bit
precision drop. A quick bench run showed this running in about 0.75x
the time of the existing lowp backend.

Not yet thread safe (so it forces threading off).
Builds JSON on the fly, so overhead is certainly bad.
Plan to fix all of that, but this at least "works".

There is now one tracing flag: 'trace'.
- 'debugf' installs the SkDebugf tracer.
- 'atrace' installs the Android ATrace tracer.
- Any other value is interpreted as a filename, and
produces a JSON file for chrome://tracing.

All three modes work in DM, nanobench, and Viewer.

51b2f1b64c Stop adding Android-specific defines to SkUserConfig
Remove #defines that lived in gn_to_bp.py and
android_framework_defines.gni. These have been moved into a new file
in Android, SkUserConfigManual.h, in https://googleplex-android-review.git.corp.google.com/#/c/2519600/

Update gn_to_bp.py to include SkUserConfigManual.h, so it will still
result in using the same #defines.

Lately, we've found it difficult to guard changes behind a flag. e.g.
a change to drawing causes a CTS failure in Android, so we have to do
the following:
- put the change behind a flag, and add it to gn_to_bp.py or
android_framework_defines.gni
- generate new images on Android (by running CTS with external/skia
modified to not define the flag)
- create a CL in CTS that uses the new images
- land a CL in Skia that stops defining the flag
- when the Skia change lands, wait for the auto-roller to create a CL
that includes the change, stop the auto-roller, add the topic to the CTS
CL so the two can land at the same time
- land both Android changes (with TreeHugger)
- restart the Android auto-roller

With SkUserConfigManual.h (which lives in Android), the process will
be similar to Chromium:
- land a CL in Android's external/skia that defines a flag e.g.
SK_SUPPORT_LEGACY_FEATURE. Land without TreeHugger because it isn't used
in Skia and does not do anything
- land a change in Skia that changes behavior unless
SK_SUPPORT_LEGACY_FEATURE is defined. This will safely go through the
Android roll and not change any behavior for Android
- create two Android CLs - one in CTS to use the new images, and one in
external/skia to delete SK_SUPPORT_LEGACY_FEATURE. Set them to the same
topic and land them with TreeHugger

In the new process, there is no need to mess with the Android roll.

A downside to the new process is that we cannot test the android
framework defines without checking in to Android. But given how much
we've progressed in automating Android testing, this is fine.

d81fed9ce2 Replace BMP calls to new with calls to malloc
A BMP can have an arbitrarily large width. We typically read a row
into a block of memory before swizzling it to the output. Rather
than calling new to create that block of memory, which may crash
when we run out of memory, call malloc, and return null if malloc
fails.

Add a common base class for Mask and Standard BMP codecs. This class
handles allocating and freeing the buffer.

This change is needed since once we start getting support for varrying of extensions
and newer version support in general, we need a common vulkan header to compile off of.
Otherwise we will run into problems if clients have older headers that don't include
functions/symbols we are trying to use.

Additionally it has the benefit of not needing to add if SK_VULKAN around code in
include which wants to use vulkan symbols.

I think this is the root of my Windows / Chrome problems.
Even on 32-bit builds, Chrome compiles nacl64.exe in 64-bit mode.

So to make things simple, always put _win.S in the sources,
and no-op it away when assembling for 32-bit.

d7e06aec7e jumper, revert to generating .S files
I went with the unified-in-one-.cpp approach mostly to make it easy to
roll out SkJumper. I no longer see any difficultly rolling out the
assembly files, and it's possible the unified .cpp approach just makes
things harder.

Let's see if it's any easier to get Chrome's official build to work with
normal assembly files. It's not going to be a problem to roll out.

This is a partial revert of https://skia-review.googlesource.com/c/9336.

894d5611e5 Back to code as data arrays, this time in .text.
This technique lets us generate a single source file, use the C++
preprocessor, and avoid the pain of working with assemblers.

By using the section attribute or declspec allocate, we can put these
data arrays into the .text section, making them ordinary code.

This is like the previous solution, except it should actually run.

simpleperf has moved a little since r13. To support both, remove its

Explicitly disable the Clang integrated assembler on MIPS. It has only
understood the 'usw' (unaligned store) pseudoinstruction for about 4
months, and that won't be part of a Clang release until the upcoming
Clang 4.0. Must be that -no-integrated-as was the default in r13.

e459afd6ce Strengthen is_official_build, update docs.
This makes is_official_build turn off all development targets and
features in Skia, including building third-party dependencies from
source.

This will intentionally break some external users, who will find
themselves no longer able to find third-party headers or link against
third-party libraries. These users have been building with our testing
third-party dependencies unknowingly. They'll need to either explicitly
turn back on building each dependency from source
(skia_use_system_foo=false) or disable that dependency entirely
(skia_use_foo=false).

is_skia_standalone is now basically !is_official_build, so I've
propagated that through, removing is_skia_standalone. In a few places
we were using it as a stand-in for defined(ndk), so I've just written
defined(ndk) there. Duh.

gn_to_bp:

is_offical_build's new strength also makes gn_to_bp.py simpler to
write. In spirit, Android builds are official Skia builds that also
    build DM and nanobench.

It seems that SkJumper (src/jumper/*) is (unintentionally) enabled
on Android. Switching to an is_official_build would have disabled
that. But as that accidental launch seems to have gone fine, I've
    kept it explicitly enabled.

In the end, no changes to Android.bp or its SkUserConfig.h.

The -Mini builder no longer needs to explicitly disable tools.

79086b94ed Integrate the ImGui library with viewer
Code and docs are at: https://github.com/ocornut/imgui

ImGui is an open source immediate mode GUI library that's
lightweight and fairly simply to integrate. Widget functions
return their state, and the library emits vertex and index
data to render everything. It's got a huge set of built-in
widgets and really robust layout control.

For the initial integration, I had to fix up event handling
in the viewer's app framework (to get mouse wheel and more
keys, etc...).

The new viewer 'Debug' window is toggled with the space bar.
For this change, I've added one feature to that window: the
slide picker. It's got a list of all slides, with filtering
support, and the ability to click to switch slides.

I also included the ImGui 'Demo' window (toggled with 'g').
This is nicely laid out, and includes examples of pretty
much everything the library can do. It also serves as good
documentation - find something that looks like what you want,
and then go look at the corresponding code (all of it is in
imgui_demo.cpp).

I have other CLs with other features (like directly editing
the primaries of the working color space), but I wanted to
land this chunk first, then start adding more features.

Other than adding new debugging features, there are few
more outstanding work items:

1) Raster doesn't render the GUI correctly, due to non-
invertible pos -> UV matrices. Florin is working on that.
2) Touch inputs aren't being routed yet, so the GUI isn't
usable on Android yet. Might also be tough to work with,
given the size.
3) ImGui has clipboard integration (that's why it wants
the C, X, and V keys), but we need to wire it up to the
OS' clipboard functions.
4) Draw commands can carry a void* payload to support
drawing images (using whatever mechanism the engine has).
I'd like to set that up (probably using SkImage*), which
makes it really easy to add visualization of off-screen
images in GMs, etc...

f750fbcb69 Simplify viewer's handling of backbuffer surface and color space
WindowContext still supports color spaces, but not other color
types. Any off-screen rendering is the app's responsibility.

This change also adds (working) F16 support to viewer. Note that
the previous 10-bit and FP16 support in WindowContext was broken.
There was no code to push the off-screen canvas to the window.
If you ever made it to the unreachable off-screen code path in
createSurface, it would have simply stopped drawing.

The decision to limit the window's gamut to sRGB is mostly driven
by my desire to add real-time editing of gamut. This design lets
us do that, without tearing down and rebuilding the window for
every change. An application could still supply a different gamut
via setDisplayParams and render directly to the back buffer with
proper color correction.

4ef8cb3527 some armv7 hacking
We can splice these stages if we drop them down to 2 at a time.
Turns out this is significantly (2-3x) faster than the status quo.

    SkRasterPipeline_…
    …f16_compile 1x …srgb_compile 2.06x …f16_run 3.08x …srgb_run 4.61x

Added a couple ways to detect (likely) the required VFPv4 support:
   - use hwcap when available (NDK ≥21, Android framework)
   - use cpu-features when not (NDK <21)

The code in SkSplicer_generated.h is ARM, not Thumb2. SkSplicer seems
to be blx'ing into it, so that's great, and we bx lr out. There's no
point in attempting to use Thumb2 in vector heavy code... it'll all be
4 byte anyway.

Follow ups:
   - vpush {d8-d9} before the loop, vpop {d8-d9} afterwards,
     skip these instructions when splicing;
   - (probably) drop jumping stages down to 2-at-a-time also.

a7080264d1 SkSplicer
I think I may have cracked the compile-ahead-of-time-splice-at-runtime nut.

This compiles stages ahead of time using clang, then splices them together at runtime. This means the stages can be written in simple C++, with some mild restrictions.

This performs identically to our Xbyak experiment, and already supports more stages. As written this stands alone from SkRasterPipeline_opts.h, but I'm fairly confident that the bulk (the STAGE implementations) can ultimately be shared.

As of PS 25 or so, this also supports all the stages used by bench/SkRasterPipelineBench.cpp:

    SkRasterPipeline_…
    400 …f16_compile 1x …f16_run 1.38x …srgb_compile 1.89x …srgb_run 2.21x

That is, ~30% faster than baseline for f16, ~15% faster for sRGB.

40a82bd0f4 remove MIPS DSP optimizations
There are only a couple of these, primarily focused on index8 srcs and 565 dsts. The burden's starting to outweigh the benefit. No one on the team knows MIPS assembly.

If we're going to try this again, I'd rather we try some sort of SkNx / compiler-intrinsic based approach, probably targeting MIPS SIMD (MSA), not this older instruction set.

We already ignore these files for 64-bit MIPS. This just closes the loop on 32-bit MIPS.

f44703a87f Remove dependency on NDK cpufeatures.
Instead of relying on cpu-features.c, just do what it does.

Good reading: http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man3/getauxval.3.html

While it's nice to use the headers when possible, should either of these headers not be available, we can fall back to doing it all manually:

  extern "C" uint32_t getauxval(uint32_t)
  static const int AT_HWCAP = 16;
  static const int HWCAP_CRC32 = (1<<7);

To keep things simple I've slimmed cpu feature detection down to just the features we actually make use of. This removes all runtime feature detection for ARMv7... we expect NEON to be globally available, and so far we haven't used the other FMA/FP16 bits on ARMv7. ARMv8 feature dection remains the same, CRC32 before, CRC32 after. x86 (cpuid-based detection) and MIPS (nothing) are untouched.

We need to keep //third_party/cpu-features for //third_party/libwebp.

89eda8a5e3 Streamline skia.h construction.
This moves the work of finding headers from `gn gen` time into the action itself. We can do this safely now because we're constructing a skia.h.d deps file, which Ninja uses to track if-these-are-dirty-then-this-is-dirty relationships. Everything can now live in one handy find_headers.py.

Upshot is, `gn gen` runs ~50ms faster, and I think the code's clearer this way too.

6e74412a9c Create .gni files for samples, tests, gms, and benches.
Calling Python to find all these files is convenient, but error-prone. It's easy to forget to call GN again when adding a file. Each of these calls to Python also adds ~50ms to the run time of gn gen, which is small but adds up.

On my desktop, gn gen drops from 600ms to 150ms, noticeably faster.

This leaves one call to find.py for generating skia.h for fiddle. We're not quite sure how to automate that process to happen entirely inside the :skia.h action while maintaining correct dependencies, so I'm leaving it for now.

19b91531e9 Add support for multiple frames in SkCodec
Add an interface to decode frames beyond the first in SkCodec, and
add an implementation for SkGifCodec.

Add getFrameData to SkCodec. This method reads ahead in the stream
to return a vector containing meta data about each frame in the image.
This is not required in order to decode frames beyond the first, but
it allows a client to learn extra information:
- how long the frame should be displayed
- whether a frame should be blended with a prior frame, allowing the
client to provide the prior frame to speed up decoding

Add a new fields to SkCodec::Options:
- fFrameIndex
- fHasPriorFrame

The API is designed so that SkCodec never caches frames. If a
client wants a frame beyond the first, they specify the frame in
Options.fFrameIndex. If the client does not have the
frame's required frame (the frame that this frame must be blended on
top of) cached, they pass false for
Options.fHasPriorFrame. Unless the frame is
independent, the codec will then recursively decode all frames
necessary to decode fFrameIndex. If the client has the required frame
cached, they can put it in the dst they pass to the codec, and the
codec will only draw fFrameIndex onto it.

Replace SkGifCodec's scanline decoding support with progressive
decoding, and update the tests accordingly.

Implement new APIs in SkGifCodec. Instead of using gif_lib, use
GIFImageReader, imported from Chromium (along with its copyright
headers) with the following changes:
- SkGifCodec is now the client
- Replace blink types
- Combine GIFColorMap::buildTable and ::getTable into a method that
  creates and returns an SkColorTable
- Input comes from an SkStream, instead of a SegmentReader. Add
SkStreamBuffer, which buffers the (potentially partial) stream in
  order to decode progressively.
(FIXME: This requires copying data that previously was read directly
from the SegmentReader. Does this hurt performance? If so, can we
  fix it?)
- Remove UMA code
- Instead of reporting screen width and height to the client, allow the
  client to query for it
- Fail earlier if the first frame AND screen have size of zero
- Compute required previous frame when adding a new one
- Move GIFParseQuery from GIFImageDecoder to GIFImageReader
- Allow parsing up to a specific frame (to skip parsing the rest of the
stream if a client only wants the first frame)
- Compute whether the first frame has alpha and supports index 8, to
create the SkImageInfo. This happens before reporting that the size
  has been decoded.

Add GIFImageDecoder::haveDecodedRow to SkGifCodec, imported from
Chromium (along with its copyright header), with the following changes:
- Add support for sampling
- Use the swizzler
- Keep track of the rows decoded
- Do *not* keep track of whether we've seen alpha

Remove SkCodec::kOutOfOrder_SkScanlineOrder, which was only used by GIF
scanline decoding.

Call onRewind even if there is no stream (SkGifCodec needs to clear its
decoded state so it will decode from the beginning).

Add a method to SkSwizzler to access the offset into the dst, taking
subsetting into account.

Add a GM that animates a GIF.
Add tests for the new APIs.

*** Behavior changes:
* Previously, we reported that an image with a subset frame and no transparent
index was opaque and used the background index (if present) to fill the
background. This is necessary in order to support index 8, but it does not
match viewers/browsers I have seen. Examples:
- Chromium and Gimp render the background transparent
- Firefox, Safari, Linux Image Viewer, Safari Preview clip to the frame (for
  a single frame image)
This CL matches Chromium's behavior and renders the background transparent.
This allows us to have consistent behavior across products and simplifies
the code (relative to what we would have to do to continue the old behavior
on Android). It also means that we will no longer support index 8 for some
GIFs.
* Stop checking for GIFSTAMP - all GIFs should be either 89a or 87a.
This matches Chromium. I suspect that bugs would have been reported if valid
GIFs started with "GIFVER" instead of "GIF89a" or "GIF87a" (but did not decode
in Chromium).

*** Future work not included in this CL:
* Move some checks out of haveDecodedRow, since they are the same for the
  entire frame e.g.
- intersecting the frameRect with the full image size
- whether there is a color table
* Change when we write transparent pixels
- In some cases, Chromium deemed this unnecessary, but I suspect it is slower
than the fallback case. There will continue to be cases where we should
*not* write them, but for e.g. the first pass where we have already
cleared to transparent (which we may also be able to skip) writing the
transparent pixels will not make anything incorrect.
* Report color type and alpha type per frame
- Depending on alpha values, disposal methods, frame rects, etc, subsequent
frames may have different properties than the first.
* Skip copies of the encoded data
- We copy the encoded data in case the stream is one that cannot be rewound,
so we can parse and then decode (possibly not immediately). For some input
  streams, this is unnecessary.
  - I was concerned this cause a performance regression, but on average the
new code is faster than the old for the images I tested [1].
  - It may cause a performance regression for Chromium, though, where we can
always move back in the stream, so this should be addressed.

d8765e3455 Define SK_CPU_SSE_LEVEL on Windows builds.
We check this define to know which intrinsics we can call safely. The -msse flags set it for us on non-MSVC, but MSVC has no such switch. We do this in GYP (and Chrome's GN) too. No need for any defines on :avx or :hsw targets... the /arch:AVX and /arch:AVX2 do set SK_CPU_SSE_LEVEL for us.

Most directly, this means things like Sk4f::thenElse() will now use blendps when compiled into SkOpts_sse41.cpp.

Haswell brought a whole slew of handy new instructions for us (AVX2, FMA, BMI1+BMI2) and also feature F16C, which came one generation earlier on Ivybridge. We work with integers often enough that we really want to target AVX2 instead of AVX, and this means it's pretty practical to ask for all those other goodies along with it.

Chrome's GN files and Google3's BUILD file will need an update, before or after this CL.

4b5179b74c skpbench
skpbench is a benchmarking suite for skps that aims to generate 100%
repeatable results. The initial commit consists of three parts:

skpbench

A minimalist program whose sole purpose is to open an skp file,
benchmark it on a single config, and exit. No tiling, looping, or
other fanciness is used; it just draws the skp whole into a size-
matched render target and syncs the GPU after each draw.

Limiting the entire process to a single config/skp pair helps to keep
the results repeatable.

skpbench.py

A wrapper to execute the skpbench binary with various configs and skps.
It also monitors the output in order to filter out and re-run results
with an unacceptable stddev.

In the future this script will lock down and monitor clocks and
temperatures.

parseskpbench.py

A utility for parsing skpbench output into a spreadsheet.

6ef6999017 GN: Android Vulkan support
Android's the easiest place to start supporting Vulkan, so it's up first.

ndk_api becomes user-specifiable so that the Vulkan bots can kick it up
to 24, the first release supporting Vulkan. The defaults remain the same:
18 for 32-bit and 21 for 64-bit, the first release supporting 64-bit.

To test this, I set ndk_api=24 and skia_use_vulkan=true in GN, then
$ ninja -C out dm; and droid out/dm --config vk --src gm

Seems to work! Bot scripts to follow.

cdedd0e061 Alternate approach to turn on freetype in Fuchsia.
What do you think of this? It's basically what you wrote, factored differently.

Flipping on skia_use_freetype will enable the SkFontHost_Freetype*.cpp files
via the :typeface_freetype target.

Then we just pull out the SkFontMgr Fuchsia wants to use into its own little
:fontmgr_fuchsia target. No major difference here, except the availability
of freetype headers, etc, is a bit more tightly scoped to just those that
need them.

We (obviously?) don't have Fuchsia builders, so I've got to rely on you for sanity testing this.

b944728b93 Move Skia GN sources to a separate .gni file.
This file will be imported by Chrome to access the sources lists.

Once Chrome is updated to use this file, changes to the skia .gypi layout can
be done entirely within the skia repository as long as the resulting lists
produced by the new .gni file have the same name.

Marks skia_for_chromium_defines as obsolete and moves the definition into the new .gni file. We can remove the .gypi file when Chrome is updated.

This should be enough to get you going for an arm64 build. You ought to be able to tweak that to other architectures by changing target_cpu to "arm", "x86", "x86-64", etc. That won't quite work until I follow this up a bit, but the skeleton is there.

c095df55e8 GN: guard tools (except fiddle) by skia_enable_tools.
Our tools use third-party libraries pretty freely, some of which may not
be available in other GN environments (e.g. Fuchsia). Most can also not
function when Skia is built as a shared library.

fiddle stands alone as the exception to both those points: it depends on
only Skia, and works fine with both a shared or static library.

So guard everything but fiddle with this flag skia_enable_tools, disabled
when we're building for Fuchsia or when we're build a shared library.

This CL has a couple of little tweaks to Fiddle to keep it working:
  - divorce it from :tool_utils, instead just building SkForceLinking.cpp itself;
  - fix up a buggy rebase_path() that was accidentally working when we depended
    on :tool_utils;
  - drop test_only: it now only requires production-code dependencies.

The SkImageEncoder Create* methods need to be SK_API if we want SkForceLinking
to work across .so's. Without this, SkForceLinking needs to be part of Skia; it
can't be part of the application using Skia.

The rest is mostly just a re-indent under if (skia_enable_tools),
courtesy of gn format.

eb3c425f1b GN: make libwebp an optional dependency
This will be handy for folks who don't have libwebp, like Fuchsia.

I convinced myself that this is done right by:
  - building in all three modes (default and explicitly set both ways);
  - looking at verbose Ninja logs to see the presence/lack of SK_HAS_WEBP_LIBRARY;
  - running dm -m Codec, which passes with libwebp and segfault without it.

If this is viable, I intend to make all third-party dependencies optional
and follow this pattern. :skia should link and degrade gracefully without
any of //third_party. It's okay for tools to have hard third-party
dependencies; we just need them to get past the `gn gen` stage without them.

0a8efd7355 GN: _turbo -> -turbo to match Fuchsia
We might as well match the folks who are using our GN files now.

We've got plenty of strategies in our pocket for when we try to move Chrome

  * Same sort of rename in Chrome's third_party
  * Aliased targets via //build/secondary in Chrome.

5259da5377 GN: gpu support in tools
If you want to try this out, the DOCS_PREVIEW link is a quickstart.

Are the GrGLCreateNativeInteface_* meant to be part of Skia-the-library
or just used by testing tools? I've got it written here as tool-only,
but we could easily move it to libskia if it's a thing we want to ship.

I'm honestly not sure I understand how this linked before without a definition
of GrGLCreateNativeInterface(). Or are there two, one real and one no-op
default with some sort of weak linking setup? dlopen()?

ada5a44f3b GN: get echo-headers sources via exec_script
exec_script runs every time gn does, which is explicitly on every one of our
bot runs. That should be enough to obviate the .git/logs/HEAD hack.

Easiest way to do this was to swap around find.py's argument order to allow
multiple search directories. This is the root of all the .gyp changes.

This moves the blacklist into BUILD.gn, which I think is nice.
It expands it a little as we're now searching recursively, into include/gpu/vk
which we can't include safely without the Vulkan SDK.

8796ff1fbc Turn on flags to enforce SK_API.
These flags hide symbols that are not marked with SK_API when linked into a
shared library. There's nominally no effect on static linking, but I'm
pretty sure the Mac linker takes some advantage of this too to run faster.

This makes component-build DM no longer link: it uses many non SK_API APIs.
Fiddle in contrast is just fine with our public APIs, so no need to restrict that.

It'll be fun finding out which of our other tools go which ways.

I've been hopping back and forth between Linux at work and Mac at home. These seem to be at least partially working, enough to build and run cmake/example.cpp.

The xcode backend seems to work. From here, we can start exploring how to handle other backends (cmake,Android make, Google3). There are a couple things I want to try:
  - add another backend like vs or xcode to GN directly
  - intercept via a custom toolchain
  - reverse from ninja -t commands
That last option seems kind of fun.

This tries to piggyback on Chrome's GN setup as much as possible. Chrome's got quite a lot figured out, and we're basically required to do this if we want to have a single GN build system shareable by Chrome, our bots, and other clients.

This pulls in some new DEPS:
   - build: Chrome's GN configuration, and much more
   - buildtools: hashes for gn binary, pulled via hooks
   - tools/clang: hashes for Chrome's clang, pulled via hooks into third_party/llvm-build
It additionally symlinks tools/gyp to third_party/externals/gyp. GN pulls some stuff from tools/gyp on Mac.

Have not yet tried building for Windows, Android, or iOS.
