cb4f3c6957 [regexp] Don't check for excess zone allocations
The regexp parser historically has tried to gracefully detect and bail
out from excess zone allocations, where 'excess' was determined to be
an arbitrary limit of 256MB.

This leads to issues now that the regexp parser may run from within
the JS parser - the JS parser doesn't observe this arbitrary limit and
happily keeps allocating until the underlying allocator actually runs
out of memory; this way, the JS parser can handle very large JS files,
and it's now counterproductive if the regexp parser (which reuses the
JS parser zone) bails out on excess allocations.

This CL simply removes the excess_allocation mechanism.

94ade104ea [class] fix the scope chain when class scope deserialization is skipped
When reparsing the class scope to collect initializers in sloppy mode,
the class scope may still have a scope info without any allocated
variables. If its outer scope doesn't have an outer scope (which means
the outer scope in the optimized scope chain becomes the script scope),
we should also set the scope info in the script scope as is done
in Scope::DeserializeScopeChain() for the scope resolution.

0e07eb5341 Reland "[class] implement reparsing of class instance member initializers"
This is a reland of 91f08378bc

When the class scope does not need a context, the deserialized
outer scope of the initializer scope would not be the class scope,
and we should not and do not need to use it to fix up the allocation
information of the context-allocated variables. The original patch
did not consider this case and resulted in a regression when we
tried to reparse the initializer function to look for destructuring
assignment errors. This fixes the regression by not deserializing
the class scope that's going to be reparsed, and using the positions
of the scopes to tell whether the scope info matches the reparsed
scope and can be used to fix up the allocation info.

Original change's description:
> [class] implement reparsing of class instance member initializers

> Previously, since the source code for the synthetic class instance

9d0222424e [compiler] Only spill SIMD reg if valid
The allocatable registers have holes, so not all FP registers are one
half of a valid SIMD register. Thus check if {GetAliases} returned an
allocatable SIMD register before looking up if that register is being
used. Otherwise we run into a DCHECK because {simd_reg} is invalid.

80bbbb143c [class] handle existing readonly properties in StoreOwnIC
Previously, StoreOwnIC incorrectly reuses the [[Set]] semantics
when initializing public literal class fields and object literals in
certain cases (e.g. when there's no feedback).
This was less of an issue for object literals, but with public class
fields it's possible to define property attributes while the
instance is still being initialized, or to encounter existing static
"name" or "length" properties that should be readonly. This patch
fixes it by

1) Emitting code that calls into the slow stub when
handling StoreOwnIC with existing read-only properties.
2) Adding extra steps in StoreIC::Store to handle such stores
   properly with [[DefineOwnProperty]] semantics.

allocated FP register, but the other way around was missing: If an odd
FP register (in this case d1) is used as a fixed output register, but
this register is in use as the upper half of a SIMD register (in this
case q0), we did not detect this and would just use overwrite the SIMD
half.
This CL also fixes this case.

If a fixed register is defined for an input, we did only spill the

b014d0ba9c [turbofan] Introduce Type for Class Constructors
This CL splits the TF type for JSFunction into CallableFunction and
ClassConstructor. This differentiation allows us to lower calls to the
CallFunction Builtin only for functions that we can actually call.
Class Constructors are special, as they are callable but should raise
an exception if called.
By not lowering class constructors to calls to CallFunction (but the
more generall Call) builtin, we can remove the checks for class
constructors from CallFunction (in a follow-up CL).

10bbbf13a2 [compiler] Fix mixed same-as-input and unique registers
The mid-tier register allocator could not handle the case that the same
virtual register was used for
- the input corresponding to the 'same-as-input' output, and
- another 'unique register' input.

In this case, it cannot choose the already assigned register for the
'unique' register. Instead, it needs to allocate a new register and
introduce a gap move to duplicate the input value in two different
registers.

FYI, the instruction where the current logic failed was:
  (v5(0), v6(R)) = IA32AddPair v7(R) v7(*) v8(R) v7(R)
(where the last input was marked 'unique').

2e17aaca2a [regexp] Fix CharacterRange limits again again again
When emitting code, character ranges must only specify ranges which
the actual subject string (one- or two-byte) may contain.

This was not always the case, specifically for ranges with
`from <= kMaxUint8` and `to > kMaxUint8`.

The reason this is so tricky: 1. not all parts of the pipeline know
whether we are compiling for one- or two-byte subjects; 2. for
case-insensitive regexps, an out-of-bounds CharacterRange may have an
in-bounds case equivalent (e.g. /[Ÿ]/i also matches 'ÿ' == \u{ff}),
which only gets added somewhere in the middle of the pipeline.

Our current solution is to clamp immediately before code emission. We
also keep the existing handling/dchecks of the 0x10ffff marker value
which may occur in the two-byte subject case.

18b6362551 [interpreter] Fix block resurrection by LoopHeader
Loop headers in the interpreter would start a new basic block, which
among other things would reset the liveness of that block. This meant
that a loop created after dead code, without a check for whether the
code is currently dead or not, would "resurrect" that block's liveness,
making the inside of the loop live even though the loop itself is
unreachable.

This works fine, since the loop is still unreachable, but can breaks
DCHECKs in bytecode liveness analysis for cases where a register is
supposed to be initialised before the loop, in the dead code, and is
then used inside the loop, in the resurrected code.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, since blocks are normally killed on
the statement level and we check for deadness during statement
iteration, but `foo() = x` introduces an expression-level block killer
(being re-written to `foo[throw ReferenceError] = x`) and we don't check
for deadness after assignment Lhs preparation.

This does mean that we have to fix the InterpreterJumps test, to not try
to jump into the middle of a loop (since this could revive the loop).
This can only happen when manually creating bytecode, bytecode generated
from JavaScript is always reducible.

6366f3347b Fix leaks due to deoptimization literals
The GC already treats some embedded object pointers in Code as weak,
based on Code::IsWeakObject. If one of those embedded objects ends up
unmarked during a full mark-collect GC, then the Code is marked for lazy
deoptimization and the embedded objects are cleared. However, many of
those same objects are often held strongly by the deoptimization literal
array for the Code, which causes memory leaks. This change updates the
deoptimization literals array to store those objects weakly. Any Code
currently executing on the stack might need those deoptimization
literals in order to deoptimize, so the deoptimization literal array is
marked strongly in that case.

f77b05d464 [class] fix evaluation order and errors in private accessor assignments
In assignments the lhs should be evaluated first and shouldn't be
re-evaluated when the value of the rhs is available. Fix it by
saving the receiver and the key registers into AssignmentLhsData
before building the assignment and use them later, instead of visiting
the AST again to retrieve the receiver.

In addition, now that we save the receiver register, use it to
perform the brand check even when we know for sure that it's
going to fail later because it's a write to a private
method or accessing the accessor in the wrong way (v8:11364),
so that the brand check error always appears first if it is present,
as specified in
https://tc39.es/proposal-private-methods/#sec-privatefieldget

Drive-by: unify the brand check error messages, and replace "Object"
with "Receiver" in the messages for clarity. The instance private
brand check now throws "Receiver must be an instance of class <name>"
and the static private brand check now throws "Receiver must be
class <name>". Also always set the expression position to the
property load position, because the brand check failure comes from
the load operation.

f67dd50a16 [regexp] Update capture name parsing for recent spec changes
Capture group names were extended in

https://github.com/tc39/ecma262/pull/1869/files
https://github.com/tc39/ecma262/pull/1932/files

RegExpIdentifierName now explicitly enables unicode (+U) for
unicode escape sequences; likewise, surrogate pairs are now allowed
unconditionally.

The implementation simply switches on unicode temporarily while
parsing a capture group name.

Good news everyone, /(?<𝒜>.)/ is now a legal pattern.

272e5a8766 [wasm] Do not serialize modules that don't contain TurboFan code
The wasm serialization format only contains TurboFan code. All other
functions are only represented by placeholders. With this CL
serialization fails if the serialized module does not contain any
TurboFan functions and would therefore consist only of placeholders.

This is a defense in depth approach, because ideally serialization
only gets triggered when TurboFan code is available. However, in some
scenarios like debugging it can happen that modules without TurboFan
code get serialized.

45227ffdb4 [turbofan] extend type asserts to cover all JS types
Extend type assertions to all types covering JavaScript values.
This is achieved by allocating type representations on the heap using
newly defined HeapObject subclasses. To allocate these in the compiler,
we disable concurrent compilation for the --assert-types flag for now.

Fix two type errors that came up with the existing tests:
1. JSCreateKeyValueArray has type Array (i.e., a JSArray) instead of
   OtherObject.
2. OperationTyper::NumberToString(Type) can type the result as the
   HeapConstant Factory::zero_string(). However, NumberToString does
not always produce this string. To avoid regressions, the CL keeps
the HeapConstant type and changes the runtime and builtin code to
always produce the canonical "0" string.

A few tests were failing because they check for truncations to work
and prevent deoptimization. However, AssertType nodes destroy all
truncations (which is by design), so these tests are incompatible
and now disabled for the assert_types variant.

Drive-by fix: a few minor Torque issues that came up.

a4252db322 [wasm][liftoff] Fix spill offsets in merge regions
Recompute the spill offsets for values in the merge region, instead of
reusing the offsets of the source. This ensures that spill slots stay
contiguous (modulo alignment).
This also solves a correctness issue where the spill offsets in the
merge region could move up, thereby overwriting the source of another
move.
With this change, the spill offsets always move down (to fill the gap)
or stay the same, such that processing them from bottom to top
can only overwrite sources of already-processed moves.

Since we do not reuse the current state's offsets, this might generate
extra stack moves and regress generated code performance a bit.

Drive-by: print spill offsets in the Liftoff trace

b7dc9915ff [regexp] Only emit valid ranges in MakeRangeArray
Character class handling in the irregexp pipeline is quite complex;
codepoints outside the BMP (basic multilingual plane) are only
translated into surrogate pairs when needed, e.g. when the subject
string is two-byte. If not needed, the codepoints simply stay part of
the list of CharacterRanges.

In EmitCharClass, we determine the valid subset of ranges through
ranges_length; until this CL, we forgot to pass that information on to
MakeRangeArray. Do that now by truncating the list of CharacterRanges.

The bug manifests on Wasm select instructions, where the input index is

In order to test this better, we introduce the a new

88c0f72927 [turbofan] Fix calling class constructors with spread
Calling class constructors without new is a spec violation and should
raise an exception.
In [1] calling class constructors with spread (without new) was handled
by reducing the node to a call to runtime to raise the exception.
However, arguments of the call have to be evaluated first ([2]).
This CL changes the reduction of JSCallWithSpread/JSCallWithArrayLike to
a no-op in JSCallReducer if the target is a class constructor, delaying
raising of the exception to the call builtin.

e127f58410 [turbofan] Handle class constructor
Handling of class constructors was moved from CallFunction to Call
in [1].
When reducing calls with spread we forward varargs directly to
CallFunction, if we are spreading to inlined arguments or arguments of
the outermost function.
In that case we didn't check for class constructors and therefore didn't
raise an exception.
This CL adds checks for class constructors to all JSCall* nodes in
JSCallReducer that missed them before.

70a0baaa59 [test] Robustify wait in regress-bug-9161
mjsunit/regress/regress-crbug-9161 had two spinlocks on an atomic:

  1. WaitUntil(lock == kStageRunning)
  2. WaitUntil(lock == kStageDone)

But, in theory the worker updating the "lock" could progress all the way
to kStageDone before the first loop manages to check the lock value
again.

We can make this more robust by checking:

  1. WaitUntil(lock != kStageInit)
  2. WaitUntil(lock == kStageDone)

That way both loops check for _any_ state past the state they want to
progress past.

4b6ee11532 [asm] Fix importing monkey-patched objects
This fixes a long-standing TODO to disallow importing receivers that
have "toString" or "valueOf" patched. Calling those methods could have
observable side effects, so allowing that would require bigger

per import, and in the right order.
Since this use case is rare, we just forbid importing such receivers.

0d42c9d0b1 [builtins] Unify ArrayPrototypeSlice & ReduceArrayPrototypeSlice
They need to agree about when to delegate to CloneFastJSArray, since it
produces arrays which are potentially COW. If they don't agree, TF
generates code which produces a COW array and then expects it to be
non-COW -> immediate deopt.

This CL gets rid of the discrepancy in the case when there's exactly
one argument and it's the number 0.

Some corner cases remain, e.g., 1st argument not a number but ToInteger
returns 0. These should be extremely rare in the real world.

6de4e21068 [parser] Fix class variable redeclaration
ParserBase::ParseClassLiteral and BaseConsumedPreparseData::RestoreDataForScope
both declare the class variable, but the logic is so complex
that they sometimes ended up both declaring it.

This is further complicated by some of the variable values (esp.
inner_scope_calls_eval_) potentially changing in between, so we can't
just redo the same logic any more.

Forcefully make it work by making RestoreDataForScope declare the variable
iff ParseClassLiteral didn't.

732f394c5d [sparkplug] Clobber accumulator in StaGlobal
StaGlobal didn't write the accumulator, but the baseline implementation
assumed that it could preserve the accumulator by taking the return
value of the StoreGlobalIC. This almost always worked, except for
setters on the global object.

Fix this by marking StaGlobal as clobbering the accumulator, same as
StaNamedProperty (StaNamedProperty needs to do this anyway to avoid
inlined setters from needing to create accumulator-preserving frames;
StaGlobal would have needed the same thing if we'd ever inlined setters
for it).

Also, add a new debug scope, EnsureAccumulatorPreservedScope, to the
baseline compiler, which checks if the accumulator value is preserved
across non-accumulator-writing bytecodes. This found a (benign) bug with
ForInPrepare, so fix that too.

a56874d3eb [regexp] Early errors 🤯
This CL implements early SyntaxErrors for regular expressions. Early
errors are thrown when a malformed pattern is parsed, rather than when
the code first runs.

We do this by having the JS parser call into the regexp parser when
a regexp pattern is found. Regexps are expected to be relatively
rare, small, and cheap to parse - that's why we currently accept that
the regexp parser does unnecessary work (e.g. creating the AST
structures).

If needed, we can optimize in the future. Ideas:

- Split up the regexp parser to avoid useless work for syntax validation.
- Preserve parser results to avoid reparsing later.

a8609e06b7 [wasm] Remove a long-living CodeSpaceWriteScope
The {CodeSpaceWriteScope} in {InstanceBuilder::Build} was kept open
while processing imports, which could compile another wasm module via
{compiler::ResolveWasmImportCall} and
{WasmEngine::SyncCompileTranslatedAsmJs}. This leads to errors since
{CodeSpaceWriteScope}s for different modules cannot be held open at the
same time.

This CL fixes that by only opening the {CodeSpaceWriteScope} for the
actual compilation of import wrappers.

Drive-by: Only call {ProcessImports} if there are imports to be
processed, to avoid some of the overhead of {ProcessImports} and
{CompileImportWrappers}.

ce8812aceb [wasm-gc][test] Add builtin ref type handling in wasm-module-builder
We currently print reference type indices as unsigned LEB. This will not
work properly for large indices (>=64), as they will be interpreted as
negative indices when read back. They may also alias with builtin types.
In this CL, we fix this by defining builtin types as negative numbers.
We add positive byte constants that can be used in function bodies.
We adapt wasm-module-builder and tests to the above changes.

d3b5b63d0f [isolate] Increase allowed stack overflow for sanitizer builds
C++ frames can get quite big in sanitizer builds. In the linked bug it
was an ASan debug build, which overflowed the stack by more than 8kB
just from C++ frames (when entering the runtime, there was no overflow
yet).
Hence increase the allowed stack overflow a bit for sanitizer builds,
from 8kB to 32kB.

e8fd93689e [compiler] Thread-safe Map::ComputeMinObjectSlack

This CL adds a compiler-specific thread-safe variant

one. Thread-safety is achieved through locking: on the bg thread, a
shared lock when traversing transitions, and on the main thread, an
additional exclusive critical section when overwriting prototype
transitions.

We've already been zero-extending 32-bit offset registers since

2d04a6275e [wasm] Clean up spec'ed max memory vs dynamic max
There are two different limits for the maximum memory size in
WebAssembly:
1) A 4GB limit which is the same on all platforms, and is observable for
JS programs. It is used to limit the allowed declared maximum size of a
wasm memory.
2) A potentially lower limit (2GB on 32-bit systems, 4GB otherwise)
which can be further limited using a command-line flag. This limit is
used whenever actually allocating or growing a wasm memory. This limit
is not directly observable, but we make sure that no wasm memory will
ever be bigger than this limit.

The second limit is the one we should check against when allocating or
growing memory, while the first limit should be used when validating
a module (or the parameters for WebAssembly.Memory). The compiler can
rely on no memory being bigger than the second limit, which again is
never bigger than the first limit.

This CL adds some more documentation to the two limits, and cleans up
all usages.
This also makes {kPlatformMaxPages} and {kMaxMemoryPagesAtRuntime}
obsolete.

24ff68e8bc Reland "[compiler] Consider IsPendingAllocation in Ref construction"
This is the second reland of 4683d6fe52

Initial CL: crrev.com/c/2874663
First reland: crrev.com/c/2886861

The first reland fixes Ref construction failures in:
- MapRef::instance_descriptors
- NativeContext reads (see also crrev.com/c/2891575)

The second reland (this CL):
- Adds required infrastructure (e.g. kAssumeMemoryFence) but
without enabling the IsPendingAllocation check. Enabling the check
will be done separately to avoid further revert chains.

Original change's description:

4683d6fe52 Reland "[compiler] Consider IsPendingAllocation in Ref construction"
This is a reland of 5f0ac36cc6

Fixes Ref construction failures in:
- MapRef::instance_descriptors
- NativeContext reads (see also crrev.com/c/2891575)

Original change's description:
> [compiler] Consider IsPendingAllocation in Ref construction

> The logic in JSHeapBroker::TryGetOrCreateData assumes that parts
> of the object are safe to read. In particular, the instance type
> must be readable for the chain of `Is##Name()` type checks.

9c5623c72e Fix data race in array sorting
For copying the SharedArrayBuffer content, we cannot use a simple
{memcpy} because that produces data races with thread concurrently
modifying the content. Instead, use a custom {Relaxed_Memcpy} that uses
proper relaxed atomics. The implementation is slightly optimized to do
word-sized loads and stores where possible. If we still get performance
regressions, we can optimize it further in follow-up CLs.

should also take into account the imports to harvest names).

f6a3ef5643 [regalloc] Avoid duplicate moves for slot constraint
We potentially emitted the same gap move multiple times to satisfy slot
constraint of live ranges defined by a constant. Avoid this by keeping
track of already spilled ranges for a given instruction.

This is not expected to cause any regression because this case is rare.
If it does, a better approach to save allocations would be to re-use the
same vector by storing it somewhere that survives the function calls,
e.g. in the ConstraintBuilder.

Drive-by: Remove unused functions.

8d6da6d5c9 [wasm][test] Initializer exprs. for element segments
Element segments and tables in tests used an ad-hoc mechanism to
describe the different types of initializer expressions, e.g. an number
which could denote either the value of a constant or the index of a
global. This CL tidies up and generalizes the test infrastructure by
directly using WasmInitExpr in those cases.

Additional changes:
- Introduce WasmElemSegment class.
- Remove obsolete --experimental-wasm-bulk-memory flag from tests.
- Rename WasmInitExpr.type -> kind.
- Remove dependency of wasm-module-builder from mjsunit.js (except in
  assertTraps).

7ad5b96155 [liftoff] Fix >=2GB memory accesses on 32-bit
We were inconsistent in handling offsets >= 2GB on 32-bit systems. The
code was still relying on this being detected as statically out of
bounds, but with the increase of {kV8MaxWasmMemoryPages} to support 4GB
memories, this is not the case any more.

This CL fixes this by again detecting such situations as statically OOB.
We do not expect to be able to allocate memories of size >2GB on such
systems. If this assumptions turns out to be wrong, we will erroneously
trap. If that happens, we will have to explicitly disallow memories of
such size on 32-bit systems.

8c3c89b0c0 [wasm] Abort wrapper compilation on isolate shutdown
JS-to-Wasm wrappers embed heap constants (like the undefined value), and
those heap values are being accessed during compilation for tracing.
This is not a data race, since those values are read-only. But if the
isolate dies while we are compiling those wrappers, we might read from
the heap after it has been free'd.

Ideally we would not access the isolate or the heap at all during
compilation, but delaying all tracing until the "finalization" phase is
not feasible, and removing the heap value printing from tracing would
significantly regress quality of this tracing.

Hence this CL only fixes the actual issue: That we keep compiling
wrappers when the isolate is already gone. It does so by introducing an
{OperationsBarrier} per isolate that is being taken by each thread that
executes wrapper compilation, and is used for waiting for background
threads to finish before the isolate shuts down.
Additionally, we actually cancel all compilation if a module dies (or
the isolate shuts down) before it finished baseline compilation. In this
state, the module cannot be shared between isolates yet, so it's safe to
fully cancel all compilation. This cancellation is not strictly
necessary, but it will reduce the time we are blocked while waiting for
wrapper compilation to finish (because no new compilation will start).

with the upcoming introduction of a much more complex type system in

c977b65bb9 [regexp] Don't use eats_at_least for backwards loops
The eats_at_least (EAL) value is applied in forward-directions only.
Two reasons for that which are relevant to this CL:

- EAL's of neighboring nodes are combined additively, irrespective of
  their read_backward value.
- EatsAtLeastPropagator::VisitText uses the successor's
eats_at_least_from_not_start value, which doesn't work properly for
read_backwards successors (which may end at the start).

A symptom of this bug was that we applied an incorrect EAL of 255
starting at the initial 'x' of /x(?<=^x{4})/); for subject strings
shorter than 255 chars, this would result in an incorrect failure
result.

This fixes a bug introduced in crrev.com/c/2660995.
String.prototype.indexOf must clamp the `position` argument as per
step:

  7. Let start be the result of clamping pos between 0 and len.

Source: tc39.es/ecma262/#sec-string.prototype.indexof

Previously, this was done in the StringIndexOf builtin, but the recent
refactor changed builtin implementations to match the spec more
closely (i.e. to clamp in String.prototype.indexOf, not
StringIndexOf). This means we now have to clamp in
JSCallReducer::ReduceStringPrototypeIndexOf.

c9b4f3c4a7 [dict-proto] TF support for constants in dictionary mode protos, pt. 4
This CL is part of a series that implements Turbofan support for
property accesses satisfying the following conditions:
1. The holder is a dictionary mode object.
2. The holder is a prototype.
3. The access is a load.

This feature will only be enabled if the build flag
v8_dict_property_const_tracking is set.

This particular CL modifies existing mjsunit tests whose assumptions
don't hold if v8_dict_property_const_tracking is enabled. This is
done by adding special handling for the case that
%IsDictPropertyConstTrackingEnabled() holds.

0ee6f90a5f [regalloc] Fix slot requirement for live ranges defined by a const
Live ranges defined by a constant operand normally don't require a spill
slot since they can just rematerialize the value from the constant. In
the attached issue however, deoptimization adds an explicit slot
requirement for a range that is defined by a constant operand. This case
is not expected in the register allocator and we eventually hit a
DCHECK.

This fix allocates a new stack slot during the MeetRegisterConstraints
and adds the missing gap move.

Drive-by: remove dead method LiveRange::NextSlotPosition.

28cd97b8d4 [wasm][eh] Do not trap on special exception objects
Throwing an object that needs special property lookup currently traps
when we catch it in wasm. We should just return undefined to let the
caller know that this is not a wasm exception object.

Drive-by: use the named {caught_tag} register consistently.

5bf07566ce [wasm] Move asm regress tests into regress/asm
These tests require --validate-asm, which is available only on
WebAssembly enabled builds. This was causing problems
on https://ci.chromium.org/ui/p/v8/builders/ci/V8%20Linux%20-%20arm%20-%20sim%20-%20lite/15320/overview.

Moving them into regress/asm, the status file automatically skips these
tests if WebAssembly is not enabled.

4c17394d67 Reland: [compiler] Cache StateValue processing in InstructionSelector.
Processing StateValues into operands is one of the most costly
parts of instruction selection. As it happens, StateValues are
shared by many nodes, and so we are unecessarily reprocessing
the same StateValues multiple times. This CL introduces caching
for the processed StateValues enabling very fast emitting of
operands for subsiquent instructions with the same StateValue.
The hitrate for the cache is higher than 90% on most optimizations.

2e8443779d Reland "[compiler] Direct heap reads for JSArrayRef"
This is a reland of 76a2ab06a1

Changes since the original CL:
- Handle unserialized elements (optional result in getter).
- Merge should_access_heap and --turbo-direct-heap-access paths.
- Slightly update the serialized path in GetOwnCowElement.
- Fix the cctest, add a regression test.

Atomic JSObject::elements/JSArray::length setters are addressed
in this CL: crrev.com/c/2704076.

Original change's description:
> [compiler] Direct heap reads for JSArrayRef
>
> There are two aspects to the non-JSObject parts of JSArrayRef:
>
> - JSArrayRef::length. Relevant only in two spots, 1. when reading
> (immutable) array boilerplates and 2. for GetOwnCowElement.
>
> - JSArrayRef::GetOwnCowElement. May read into a copy-on-write backing
> store. Relies on the invariant that cow backing stores are immutable.
>
> This CL renames the length accessor to length_unsafe to make the
> danger explicit at callsites.
>
> For GetOwnCowElement the refactor is slightly larger, since we now
> need to read into the backing store while keeping full control of
> object reads (e.g. JSArray::length and JSArray::elements_kind). We
> make all reads explicit at the call site by requiring that elements,
> elements kind, and length are passed in as arguments to
> GetOwnCowElement. Inside GetOwnCowElement, consistency between these
> is *not* guaranteed due to concurrency. At runtime, consistency *is*
> guaranteed through the reference-equality check on the elements seen
> during compilation. The actual elements read is implemented in
> ConcurrentLookupIterator::GetOwnCowElement.
