48756fcf74 [regexp] Add a backtracking limit in the interpreter
V8 uses a backtracking regexp engine, which has the caveat that some
regexp patterns can have exponential runtime behavior when excessive
backtracking is involved.

Especially when regexp patterns are user-controlled, it would be useful
to be able to set an upper limit for a single regexp execution. This CL
takes an initial step in that direction by adding a backtracking limit
(intended to approximate execution time):

- The limit is stored in the JSRegExp's data array.
- A limit can currently only be set through the %NewRegExpWithLimit
runtime function.
- The limit is applied during interpreter execution. When exceeded, the
interpreter stops execution and returns FAILURE (even if continued
execution would at some later point have resulted in SUCCESS).

In follow-up CLs, this mechanism will be extended to work in jitted
regexp code, and exposed through the V8 API.

014c977f98 [TurboFan] concurrent support to inline anonymous callback closures
TurboFan can normally inline an arrow function closure callback like:

[1, 2, 3].map(x => x * x);

The serializer has information to support this in the form of
FunctionBlueprint Hints, though it's not exploiting them. This CL
remedies that.

84cd9a82ff [async stacks] Fix corner case for async generators.

94d8fcb884 [parser] Accumulate even if we already thought we had an error
At certain points in time we learn that we have to drop certain errors in the
ExpressionScope. If an AccumulationScope appears between where we learn about
the error and where we drop the error, we previously stopped accumulating,
assuming that we're already going to fail anyway. Since we might drop the
earlier error later; we can't early on this. Instead the accumulator should
simply keep on accumulating, keeping the earlier error alive across
accumulation.

83f8464ffc [builtins] Move non-JS linkage builtins code objects into RO_SPACE
Creates an allow-list of builtins that can still go in code_space
including all TFJ builtins and a small manual list that should be pared
down in the future.

For builtins that go in RO_SPACE a Code object is created that contains
no code at all (shrinking its size from 96 bytes to 64 bytes on x64),
but is there to allow the runtime to continue to work since it expects
a Code object.

This reduces code_space from ~152k to ~40k (-112k) and increases
read_only_space from 33k to 108k (+75k) in the snapshot.

c07c02e1c4 [runtime] Remove extension slots from context objects
Context objects have an extension slot, which contains further
additional data that depends on the type of the context.

This CL removes the extension slot from contexts that don't need
them, hence reducing memory.

The following contexts will still have an extension slot: native,
module, await, block and with contexts. See objects/contexts.h for
what the slot is used for.
The following contexts will not have an extension slot anymore (they
were not used before): script, catch and builtin contexts.

7d6ada2714 [protectors] Update protectors in DefineClass
DefineClass uses the ClassBoilerplate to directly construct the
property descriptor array or dictionary for defining the class
constructor and prototype, skipping use of the LookupIterator and the
encapsulated protector update logic. This patch adds manual calls
to UpdateProtector(), which is in particular relevant for the
isConcatSpreadable protector.

This is a reland of c7c47c68f2.

This makes TSAN happy in addition to:

Previously I presumed that the context read from a frame in the profiler was
a valid context. Turns out that on non-intel we're not guaranteed that the
frame is properly set up. In the case we looked at, the profiler took a
sample right before writing the frame marker indicating a builtin frame,
causing the "context" pointer from that frame to be a bytecode array. Since
we'll read random garbage on the stack as a possible context pointer, I made
the code reading the native context from it a little more defensive.

ae97e88542 [ptr-compr] Implement the DecompressionOptimizer Reducer and its phase
The DecompressionOptimizer aims to avoid adding the root in AnyTagged
or TaggedPointer loads. For the TaggedSigned case, we already solve it
in instruction selection.

The new phase will run only when pointer compression is enabled. For
the moment, it's also requires FLAG_turbo_decompression_elimination to
be false. This latter flag is only temporary to test out the
implementation.

The phase needs to be run when Machine are present in the graph, i.e
at the very end of the pipeline. Also, since this phase may change
the load's MachineRepresentation from Tagged to Compressed, it's best
to run it as late as possible in order to keep the phases that know
about Compressed MachineRepresentation to a minimum.

As an example, if we Load a Tagged value only to Store it back again
(i.e Load -> Store nodes, with the Load being the Store's value) we
don't need to fully decompress it since the Store will ignore the
top bits.

dfd9ceb984 [regexp] Clone match info for match indices.
The current behavior for generating match indices simply stashes a
pointer to the match info and then constructs the indices lazily.
However, it turns out the match info object used to create the result
object is the regexp_last_match_info living on native context, and thus
it can change between the creation of the result object and the generation
of indices. This cl clones the match info which will be safer.

2dbcdc028a [profiler] Make ScrapeNativeContext check types and only run it where safe.
Previously ScrapeNativeContext was written quite defensively which could result
in false positives and crashes.

This CL makes the function always bail out when we're running on non-ia32/x64
since only those 2 properly verify whether the program is setting up a frame.
If we are setting up a frame, the context will be garbage.

This CL also disables profiler tests when TSAN is running since TSAN makes
ScrapeNativeContext unsafe: it considers SIGPROF asynchronous and will run the
handler after the program has already run further than the context that's
passed into the handler.

f78392d53f [Turbofan] Improve serializer environment handling for catch blocks
The serializer doesn't correctly propagate environment information
from try blocks into their catch handlers, and this impedes
optimizations that fire when we compile concurrently.

function bar(x) {
  try {
    boom(); // throws
  } catch(_) {
    return x.a;
  }
}

function foo() { return bar({a: 42}); }

When foo is optimized, we can normally return the constant 42
directly. This CL makes that work for concurrent inlining.

13ddba2a64 [heap] Add flag to promote young objects in MC
Add FLAG_always_promote_young_mc that always promotes young objects
during a Full GC when enabled. This flag guarantees that the young gen
and the sweeping remembered set are empty after a full GC.

This CL also makes use of the fact that the sweeping remembered set is
empty and only invalidates an object when there were old-to-new slots
recorded on its page.

4d0360aa84 [tools] Add list of classes to v8_debug_helper
This change extends v8_debug_helper to export a new method that returns
a list of all known heap object types.

Why? We can substantially improve the user experience in our work-in-
progress WinDbg extension if we register handlers not only for
v8::internal::Object but for every specific HeapObject type. This has
two benefits:

- You save a click: if you're expanding a local variable of a more
  specific type than Object, you can see properties immediately rather
  than first needing to expand a sub-item that casts the variable to
  Object.
- You retain the type hint: GetObjectProperties accepts a type hint
  string, and it's super important to pass it when working in a crash
  dump because the object's Map is probably inaccessible. If we have to
  cast to Object first, we lose this data.

c7c47c68f2 Reland "[runtime] Move Context::native_context to the map"
This is a reland of f05bae1e0d

Previously I presumed that the context read from a frame in the profiler was
a valid context. Turns out that on non-intel we're not guaranteed that the
frame is properly set up. In the case we looked at, the profiler took a
sample right before writing the frame marker indicating a builtin frame,
causing the "context" pointer from that frame to be a bytecode array. Since
we'll read random garbage on the stack as a possible context pointer, I made
the code reading the native context from it a little more defensive.

0d7889d0b1 [coverage] Correctly report coverage for inline scripts
This fixes a bug where coverage for the inline script
  <script>function foo() {}<script>
started to get deterministically reported as covered
after crrev.com/c/1771776, while before it, we most of
the time reported it as uncovered (depending on heap
order of SFIs). The correct result is to report `foo`
as uncovered as it is never called.

The problem arose from the fact that v8:9212 needed to
handle extra-wrappers around scripts correctly. Those
wrappers have the same source range as the wrapped
script and a call count of zero even if the wrapped
script is executed. To filter them out, we previously
determined nesting for identical source ranges by
ascending call count. However, in the script case above,
the script has call count one, while `foo` (which has
the same source range) has call count zero. In this
case, nesting is decreasing order of call counts.

This CL is a minimal change that sorts SFIs which are
top-level to the front, only then considers call counts
in descending order. This preserves the behavior that
node's extra wrappers are sorted to the front (and
then filtered out by existing logic), but also ensures
that for the example above, we report the script's
coverage before the coverage for `foo`.

a8cdda9947 [Liftoff] Improve initialization for many locals
WebAssembly locals are specified to be zero on function entry. Liftoff
implements this by just storing the constant 0 in the virtual stack for
integer types, and using one floating point register initialized to
zero for all floating point types.
For big counts of locals this leads to problems (manifesting as huge
blocks of code being generated) once we hit a merge point: All those
constants (for int) and all duplicate register uses (for floats) need to
be fixed up, by using separate registers for the locals or spilling to
the stack if no more registers are available. All this spilling
generates a lot of code, and can even happen multiple times within a
function.

This CL optimizes for such cases by spilling all locals to the stack
initially. All merges within the function body get much smaller then.
The spilled values rarely have to be loaded anyway, because the initial
zero value is usually overwritten before the first use.

To optimize the code size for initializing big numbers of locals on the
stack, this CL also introduces the platform-specific
{FillStackSlotsWithZero} method which uses a loop for bigger local
counts.

This often saves dozens of kilobytes for very big functions, and shows
an overall code size reduction of 4-5 percent for big modules.

47f3a53f70 [wasm] Fix bogus uses of {WasmGraphBuilder::Buffer}.
With exception handling enabled new call paths open up, which will
perform environment merging while a "call" or "call_indirect" is
currently being emitted. This will lead to double-use of the buffer
returned by calls to {Buffer} or {Realloc}. In general we should
transition away from this optimization to safer constructs such as
{base::SmallVector} to avoid such bugs.

Changes from the design doc:
- Changed to use 'class' declarations rather than 'type' declarations
  for things that need instance types but whose layout is not known to
  Torque. These declarations end with a semicolon rather than having a
  full set of methods and fields surrounded by {}. If the class's name
  should not be treated as a class name in generated output (because
  it's actually a template, or doesn't exist at all), we use the
  standard 'generates' clause to declare the most appropriate C++ class.
- Removed @instanceTypeName.
- @highestInstanceType became @highestInstanceTypeWithinParentClassRange
  to indicate a semantic change: it no longer denotes the highest
  instance type globally, but only within the range of values for its
  immediate parent class. This lets us use it for Oddball, which is
  expected to be the highest primitive type.
- Added new abstract classes JSCustomElementsObject and JSSpecialObject
  to help with some range checks.
- Added @lowestInstanceTypeWithinParentClassRange so we can move the new
  classes JSCustomElementsObject and JSSpecialObject to the beginning of
  the JSObject range. This seems like the least-brittle way to establish
  ranges that also include JSProxy (and these ranges are verified with
  static assertions in instance-type.h).
- Renamed @instanceTypeValue to @apiExposedInstanceTypeValue.
- Renamed @instanceTypeFlags to @reserveBitsInInstanceType.

This change introduces the new annotations and adds the ability for
Torque to assign instance types that satisfy those annotations. Torque
now emits two new macros:
- TORQUE_ASSIGNED_INSTANCE_TYPES, which is used to define the
  InstanceType enumeration
- TORQUE_ASSIGNED_INSTANCE_TYPE_LIST, which replaces the non-String
  parts of INSTANCE_TYPE_LIST

The design document mentions a couple of other macro lists that could
easily be replaced, but I'd like to defer those to a subsequent checkin
because this one is already pretty large.

Increase the embedded vector size to 91 as that is the max size needed to print
a s128 as a 32x4.

- max value of uint32_t has 10 digits in decimal, 1 for a potential sign,
  3 spaces in between 4 of them -> 3 + 4 * 11 = 47
- max value of uint32_t has 8 digits in hex, 3 spaces in between -> 3 + 4 * 8 = 35
- the prefix "v128:" -> 5
- " / " to separate the decimal and hex representation -> 3
- null byte

47 + 35 + 5 + 3 + 1 = 91

f5dac714ad Fix crash in creating NumberFormat
setUnicodeKeywordValue doesn't remove unrelated keyword/value pairs
when the locale is too long, which causes NumberFormat to fail when
calling createInstance. Fix this by using LocaleBuilder to add keyword/value
into a new locale instead of removing the keyword.

e870715fdf [heap] Retry ArrayBuffer backing store allocation after GCs.
This makes allocation of backing stores more robust by perfoming GCs

77ff0a5566 Refactor construction of [Shared]ArrayBuffers.
The backing store is now propagated to the constructors directly,
instead of being attached after the construction. This ensures that
the backing store is allocated before the array buffer so that we can
trigger GCs on backing store allocation (if allocation fails).

The only exception is builtin where we have to allocate the array buffer
before the backing store to comply with the spec.

d1f87915f0 Fix loads and stores of s128 for arm
The vst1 and vld1 instruction does a post-increment access. What we
intend is the usual access at (base+offset). This change adds a helper
function that is called for load and stores of s128, which emits the add
instruction to do base+offset, and then change the addressing mode of
the load/store to Operand2_R, which generates the variant of vld1/vst1
without the offset register. This is similar to how kSimd128 values are
loaded/stored in VisitUnalignedLoad and VisitUnalignedStore.

We also remove kSimd128 cases from UnalignedLoad and UnalignedStore,
since it is supported (see A3.2.1 Unaligned Data Access, ARM DDI
0406C.d)

7fa12e2a4f [class] fix undefined private name access in computed property keys
This patch implements https://github.com/tc39/proposal-class-fields/pull/269
and makes sure we always throw TypeError when there is invalid private
name access in computed property keys.

Before this patch, private name variables of private fields and methods
are initialized together with computed property keys in the order they
are declared. Accessing undefined private names in the computed property
keys thus fail silently.

After this patch, we initialize the private name variables of private
fields before we initialize the computed property keys, so that invalid
access to private fields in the computed keys can be checked in the IC.
We now also initialize the brand early, so that invalid access to private
methods or accessors in the computed keys throw TypeError during brand
checks - and since these accesses are guarded by brand checks, we can
create the private methods and accessors after the class is
defined, and merge the home object setting with the creation
of the closures.

4e8c62819a [class] implement static private methods
This patch refactors the declaration and allocation of the class variable, and
implements static private methods:


- The class variable is declared in the class scope with an explicit
  reference through class_scope->class_variable(). Anonymous classes
  whose class variable may be accessed transitively through static
  private method access use the dot string as the class name. Whether
  the class variable is allocated depending on whether it is used.
  Other references of the class variable in the ClassLiteral AST node
  and the ClassInfo structure are removed in favor of the reference
  through the class scope.
- Previously the class variable was always (stack- or context-)
  allocated if the class is named. Now if the class variable is only
  referenced by name, it's stack allocated. If it's used transitively
  by access to static private methods, or may be used through eval,
  it's context allocated. Therefore we now use 1 less context slots
  in the class context if it's a named class without anyone referencing
  it by name in inner scopes.
- Explicit access to static private methods or potential access to
  static private methods through eval results in forced context
  allocation of the class variables. In those cases, we save its index
  in context locals in the ScopeInfo and deserialize it later, so that
  we can check that the receiver of static private methods is the class
  constructor at run time. This flag is recorded as
  HasSavedClassVariableIndexField in the scope info.
- Classes that need the class variable to be saved due to
  access to static private methods now save a
  ShouldSaveClassVariableIndexField in the preparse data so that the
  bits on the variables can be updated during a reparse. In the case
  of anonymous classes that need the class variables to be saved,
  we also re-declare the class variable after the reparse since
  the inner functions are skipped and we need to rely on the preparse
  data flags to remember declaring it.

7d43d533bb [wasm] Move break point info list from module to Script.
This moves the list of {BreakPointInfo} objects from {WasmModuleObject}
to the corresponding {Script} object. Breakpoints are expected to affect
all modules/instances for a given script, hence the new placement of the

6f8381958c [wasm] Remove obsolete --no-wasm-shared-code flag
The flag is enabled since M-70, and we do not use the previous
behaviour anywhere. Hence, remove the flag and clean up some API code.

61815a22bd Use consistent capitalization rules for instance types
In preparation for allowing Torque to generate the list of instance
types, I'd like to make the rules a bit more consistent for how instance
types are spelled. This CL is my proposal for a system where every
non-String instance type name is exactly equal to calling
CapifyStringWithUnderscores on the corresponding class name and
appending "_TYPE".

This change is almost all find&replace; the only manual changes are in:
- src/objects/instance-type.h
- src/torque/utils.cc
- tools/gen-postmortem-metadata.py

fabfa417b4 [ptr-compr] Remove ChangeTaggedSignedToCompressedSigned optimization
CheckedInt32ToTaggedSigned -> ChangeTaggedSignedToCompressedSigned was
being simplified to CheckedInt32ToCompressedSigned. However, sometimes
the effect chain is not propagated correctly. Since we have plans to
remove the Compressed MachineRepresentation, we can remove this
optimization now.

df546bd15f [wasm-simd] Add ExtractLaneU operations
This CL implements i8x16.extract_lane_u, i16x8.extract_lane_u operations by
changing the default narrow extract operations to be unsigned. The
sign-extended extracts are implemented on top of the unsigned extracts
with an additional extend compiler node.
For IA32/X64, the codegen effectively remains the same -

f1e5488a7f [wasm] Fix stack args in CWasmEntry stub
The particular combination of (1) having callee-saved registers in
the stub per the C++ calling convention, (2) passing arguments to
the callee on the stack, and (3) that callee throwing an exception,
caused the saved registers to be restored to bogus values.
To fix this, the stack unwinder needs to compute the stub's frame
size correctly (i.e. without stack parameters).

90d161ff79 [runtime] Don't set sticky bit on empty_slow_element_dictionary
Empty slow element dictionary had the sticky bit set. This bit was
used to indicate that the dictionary cannot go to the fast mode either
because the dictionary had elements with attributed or elements at large
indices. There is no reason for the empty dictionary to have this bit set.
This causes bugs in some corner cases.

1b5f3be087 [wasm] Pretend that DWARF section is a fake source map
Unfortunately, codebase contains lots of places that use one of the two
formats as an internal representation for Wasm locations:
1) {line: 0, column: byte offset within entire module}
2) {line: function index, column: byte offset within function}

These places choose these formats interchangeably and convert from one
to another depending on the presence of source map URL in Wasm.

This is not very convenient and makes it hard to add support for DWARF
which should behave just like Wasm with source maps - that is, report a
raw Wasm script instead of fake scripts per each disassembled function,
and use representation (1) instead of (2) internally.

I tried to refactor these locations and avoid checking for source map
URLs in the previous CL - https://crrev.com/c/v8/v8/+/1833688. However,
it quickly got out of hand, and updating code in one place just kept
revealing yet another that gets broken by the changes, so I made a
decision to abandon it and leave to someone who knows the codebase
better.

Instead, this CL is based on https://crrev.com/c/v8/v8/+/1809375, but,
rather than trying to integrate DWARF separately and only for supported
agents, it pretends that encountering DWARF section is the same as
encountering a `sourceMappingURL` section with fake URL "wasm://dwarf".

This ensures that Wasm with DWARF behaves exactly in the same way as
Wasm with source maps, just like we want, with minimal changes to the
codebase. The only downside is that frontends without DWARF support
won't get even a disassembled version of Wasm that contains DWARF info.
This is unfortunate, but, as per previous discussions, should be fine
given current state of Wasm debugging.

cea0ebcce1 Skip wasm/many-modules test on a stress bot
The test creates 10000 modules, which runs in less then one second in
release builds, but can take much longer with stress flags and on
special bots.
It timed out on the tsan isolates bot in a variant passing
--stress-wasm-code-gc.
Since the test should only verify that we support more than 1000
modules in a single isolate, we do not need to run it in that variant.
Thus just skip it.

3677468397 [api, heap] Implement TracedReference
TracedGlobalTrait was unable to override v8::TracedGlobal<v8::Object> for
avoiding the destructor because it is needed on the API surface itself and C++
ODR which prohibits specialization after template instantiation.

Avoid this problem by providing a separate type TracedReference
that, similar to TracedGlobal, is purely traced but avoids the destructor
completely. This only works for embedders that have their memory management
tied to V8 as it is prone to accessing already reclaimed objects otherwise.

782322fecc [torque] allow untagged builtin parameters
For this, all Torque stub-linkage builtins use TFC instead of TFS,
with a custom descriptor added to interface-descriptors.h

To avoid having complex logic in the generated code, the new class
TorqueInterfaceDescriptor contains the logic to create a
CallInterfaceDescriptor from a signature consisting of TNode types.

As an example and test, this CL ports StringCharAt to Torque.

8ca191b6cb [tests] Fix subobject-linkage error when building with GCC
Placing these tests in anonymous namespaces, is the suggested fix
according to the GCC documentation.

The GCC documentation states: "If a type A depends on a type B with no or
 internal linkage, defining it in multiple translation units would be an
ODR violation because the meaning of B is different in each translation unit.
If A only appears in a single translation unit, the best way to silence the
warning is to give it internal linkage by putting it in an anonymous namespace as well."

b31bf8aa71 [heap] Insert directly into RememberedSet and remove StoreBuffer
This CL removes the StoreBuffer and inserts slots into the
RememberedSet directly from within the RecordWrite builtin. Only calls
into C code when either the SlotSet-array or the bucket is not
allocated. This avoids filling the store buffer up with duplicates or
due to a write-heavy workload and then blocking the main thread on
store buffer processing.

The first CL (https://crrev.com/c/1815241) got reverted, because
mksnapshot was using a different size for SlotSet than the final
binary on ARM. This is fixed now, SlotSet has a standard layout.

3aeadaac22 [heap] Remove pre-freeing of SlotSet buckets
Now that sweeping uses its own RememberedSet, pre-freeing of empty
buckets is not necessary anymore. Mutator inserts into a different
remembered set, than the sweeper removes slots from.

58761221af [parser] Delete unresolved variables created for labels
This deletes unresolved VariableProxy objects created for labels in the
preparser which prevents shadowed variables in enclosing scopes from
being context-allocated.

Previously this was only done in the full parser, which leads to
bytecode mismatches with lazy source positions.

e5ef9eb502 [wasm] Align raw Wasm URLs with disassembled ones
If script is not disassembled, still use the same script URL format for
consistency.

In particular, use an absolute `wasm://wasm/` prefix, like disassembled fake
scripts do, instead of just a script name which appears to be a
relative URL to devtools.

eea2006b3b [ic] Remove premonomorphic state
Premonomorphic state was only used for store globals to handle contextual
store on a global object [1]. We now handle these differently and we
move to fast handlers even without going through premonomorphic state
after this cl: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/1807356.
Also, with lazy feedback this would be a relatively uncommon case anyway.
So, we no longer need premonomorphic state. This cl removes this state
entirely.

28a9dc2b81 Remove JS natives support, step 1
The natives blob is deprecated and will be removed in the next
release.

This commit does two things, 1. it disables the v8_extra_library_files
gn argument which will make building natives_blob.bin through gn
impossible; 2. it marks API functions associated with the natives blob
as V8_DEPRECATE_SOON.

Embedders should remove any uses of SetNativesDataBlob and replace all
calls to

 InitializeExternalStartupData(const char*, const char*)

with the new function

 InitializeExternalStartupDataFromFile(const char*)

Step 2 is to mark API functions as V8_DEPRECATED.
Step 3, in the next V8 release, is to remove these functions and all
other natives support in V8.

1e3c3876f8 Modify the DCHECK in when computing KeyedAccessStoreMode.
Since slow handler was previously not a Smi. The DCHECK assumed any
Smi Handler on this path should be a proxy handler. Now it Checks for
both, and should continue if the current handler is a slow handler.
