106a477443 CPU profiler should support names of accessors set via v8::Object::SetAccessor 
This change fixes the case when the accessors are invoked from JSObject::{Get,Set}PropertyWithCallback.

It already works for inlined calls generated by StoreStubCompiler::CompileStoreCallback. The same still needs to be fixed for getter invocations generated by  BaseLoadStubCompiler::CompileLoadCallback, corresponding case is commented out in the new test.

This is a slightly modified version of r14915 which was rolled back due to test timeout on Windows. Compared to r14915 the new tests use OS::TimeCurrentMillis instead of OS::Ticks as OS::Ticks has ms precision on Windows and trying to wait 10 ticks (us) will result in at least 1 ms pause.

f8db2414f2 Deprecate FACTORY helper macro. 
This removes the FACTORY helper macro to avoid accidental TLS access
when using the factory. Most internal code has access to the Isolate by
now whereas tests which are not performance critical still heavily use
TLS access through explicit Isolate::Current() calls.

515aec2014 Transforming PersistentHandleVisitor to not need to copy Persistent handles. 
This gets rid of more places where Persistent handles are copied
(see crbug.com/236290 ).

Transition plan: after this CL, Blink will be modified to work both with and
without the #define, then the #define will be removed from V8.

9974d932b2 Deprecate profiler methods that accept security origin

this method can be deprecated and all the code that supports filtering
CPU profiles based on security origins can be later removed.

Drive-by fix: in line with CpuProfiler changes deprecated HeapProfiler::FindHeapSnapshot to reduce v8 API surface. FindHeapSnapshot may well be implemented based on existing GetSnapshotCount/GetSnapshot and it is only used in the tests.

45ec481659 ARM: Smi refactoring and improvements. 
Refactoring:
 * consistent use of SmiTag/Untag
 * added a few Smi macros and helpers
Improvements
 * small optimisations (e.g. merging untag and cmp #0)
 * added fixed point to double conversion instructions for simpler conversions

More on the last point: a Smi can be seen as a fixed point number with the
a one bit fractional part. Fixed to double instructions allow us to convert
a Smi to a double without untagging.

c3dde4bd9d Encapsulating Type information in the CompareICStub 
Encapsulate type information in a convenient wrapper instead of storing it in a naked bitfield. This especially facilitates transitioning to a new state and converting from/to the extraICState representation. Additionally cleaning up ToBooleanICStub::Types for consistency.

365b2eb91e Preserve optimized code map during GCs weakly. 
This change preserves the contents of optimized code maps during GCs but
treats the references in this cache weakly. It uses infrastructure from
code flushing to maintain a list of all caches.

b1bd641078 Various minor cctest fixes to make ASAN a bit happier. 
* Running with ASAN needs more stack, so don't set resource constraints too
     tight.

   * Checking boot time memory usage doesn't make sense when running with ASAN,
     it eats tons of memory for itself.

   * Fixed a malloc/delete[] mismatch: Not surprisingly, the pointer wrapped by
     a SmartArrayPointer should better be allocated by, well, NewArray...

Even with these 3 fixes, we still have a few failures when running our test
suite with ASAN. Most of them are either timeouts or failures caused by greatly
increased stack usage.

69c2f54d32 Skip samples where top function's stack frame is not setup properly 
Stack iterator takes return address based on the frame pointer (ebp) and detects JS frames based on value at fp + StandardFrameConstants::kMarkerOffset. So in order the iterator to work correctly this values should be already setup for the current function. Stack frame is constructed at the very beginning of JS function code and destroyed before return. If sample is taken before before the frame construction is completed or after it was destroyed the stack iterator will wrongly think that FP points at the current functions frame base and will skip callers frame. To avoid this we mark code ranges where  stack frame doesn't exist and completely ignore such samples.

This fixes cctest/test-cpu-profiler/CollectCpuProfile flakiness.

d97fe8d4df Add Persistent::ClearAndLeak. 
This will be relevant after Persistent is changed to Dispose itself when
destructed. With Persistent::ClearAndLeak, Blink can take the ownership of the
object pointed by a Persistent and avoid it getting destructed.

1a9997ee37 Make v8 compilable without V8_USE_UNSAFE_HANDLES. 
Without this modification, we get this error: "dereferencing type-punned pointer
will break strict-aliasing rules" (GCC strict aliasing).

Also included small CcTest sanity fixes: isolate() cannot return anything else
than default_isolate().

5206b08451 Remove code that analyzes tos values from tickprocessor 
Assuming that the value on top of stack is return address for a frameless invocation is error-prone. Corresponding logic was removed from profile-generator.cc in r14205 (see https://code.google.com/p/v8/source/diff?spec=svn14205&r=14205&format=side&path=/branches/bleeding_edge/src/profile-generator.cc) and now it is time to remove it from the tick processor.

Since the tos is not used anymore by profiler it is also removed from TickSample.

dc72037e10 ES6 symbols: extend V8 API to support symbols 
Specifically:
- Introduce Symbol and SymbolObject classes.
- Generalise Object::Has and Object::Delete to arbitrary Value-typed keys.
- Generalise some places in the API implementation from String to Name.

It is not possible to intercept symbol-named properties. That is consistent with the idea that symbols are private and should not leak.

c7ce87f865 Add sanity test for CPU profiler 
The new test checks full CPU profiling cycle: using public
V8 API it starts profiling, executes a script, stops profiling
and analyzes collected profile to check that its top-down
tree has expected strutcture. The script that is being profiled
is guaranteed to run > 200ms to make sure enough samples
are collected.

To avoid possible flakiness due to non-deterministic time required
to start new thread on varios OSs when Sampler and ProfilerEventsProcessor
threads are being started the main thread is blocked until the threads
are running.

Also I removed the heuristic in profile-generator.cc where we try
to figure out if the value on top of the sampled stack is return address
of some frameless stub invocation. The code periodically gives false positive
with the new test ending up in an extra node in the collected cpu profile.
After discussion with jkummerow@ we concluded that the logic is too fragile
and that we can address frameless stub invocations in a more reliable way
later should they have a noticeable effect on cpu profiling.

a22790bfed Change Context::New to not create persistent handles. 
This moves the responsibility of putting a new context into a persistent
handle to the embedder. Also it removes one API function where the copy
constructor for persistent handles is needed.

d71678676f Refactor parser mode configuration for correctness 
This patch refactors the parser and preparser interface to be more
readable and type-safe.  It has no behavior changes.

Previously, parsers and preparsers were configured via bitfield called
parser_flags in the Parser constructor, and flags in
PreParser::PreParseProgram, ParserApi::Parse, and ParserApi::PreParse.
This was error-prone in practice: six call sites passed incorrectly
typed values to this interface (a boolean FLAG value, a boolean false
and a boolean true value).  None of these errors were caught by the
compiler because it's just an "int".

The parser flags interface was also awkward because it encoded a
language mode, but the language mode was only used to turn on harmony
scoping or not -- it wasn't used to actually set the parser's language
mode.

Fundamentally these errors came in because of the desire for a
procedural parser interface, in ParserApi.  Because we need to be able
to configure the parser in various ways, the flags argument got added;
but no one understood how to use the flags properly.  Also they were
only used by constructors: callers packed bits, and the constructors
unpacked them into booleans on the parser or preparser.

The solution is to allow parser construction, configuration, and
invocation to be separated.  This patch does that.

It passes the existing tests.

53adf3b19c Add methods to allow resuming execution after calling TerminateExecution(). 
Two new methods are added to allow embedders to determine that execution
should be resumed at a particular point in the stack without being forced
to unwind all JS frames.

* V8::CancelTerminateExecution() -- When execution is terminated via a call
  to V8::TerminateExecution(), this method can be called to clear the
  termination exception so that the engine can continue to be used.

* TryCatch::HasTerminated() -- When a TryCatch has caught a termination
  exception, HasTerminated() will return true to indicate it is valid to
  call V8::ResumeExecution() if desired.

A test case is added to cctest/test-thread-termination.cc.

1afc70a332 Fix huge heap snapshot when a heavily shared context has many variables 
Prevously v8 put a link to each context variable into a function where
the variable is visible.
Because of that if there are N functions sharing a context having M variables
then N*M links were created for the snapshot.
The fix makes v8 to put the links into the context object.

e4edbb0535 Cleaned up CpuFeature scope handling. 
First of all, it has nothing to do with Isolates, it is related to the assembler
at hand. Furthermore, the saving/restoring is platform-independent. Cleaned up
some platform-specific stuff on the way.

Note that there are some things which still need some cleanup, like e.g. using
EnumSet instead of uint64_t, making Probe() more uniform across platforms etc.,
but the CL is already big enough.

764e1a0fcf ES6 symbols: Introduce Symbol class, along with abstract Name class 
The new instance type 'Symbol' represents ES6 symbols (a.k.a. private/unique names). Currently, symbols are simple data objects that only carry a hash code, random-generated upon allocation.

The new type 'Name' now serves as the common super class for strings and symbols, and is supposed to represent property names. We will eventually migrate APIs from String to Name for the standard key type.

Strings and symbols share the same hash field representation, via the Name class. This way, we should be able to use the same code paths for symbols and internalized strings in most cases. Also, Symbol's instance type code is allocated adjacent to internalized string codes in the enum, allowing a simple range check for the common case.

55f93b5532 Renamed "symbols" to "internalized strings" throughout the code base, 
in preparation of the introduction of ES6 'symbols' (aka private/unique names).

The SymbolTable became the StringTable. I also made sure to adapt all comments. The only remaining use of the term "symbol" (other than unrelated uses in the parser and such) is now 'NewSymbol' in the API and the 'V8.KeyedLoadGenericSymbol' counter, changing which might break embedders.

The one functional change in this CL is that I removed the former 'empty_string' constant, since it is redundant given the 'empty_symbol' constant that we also had (and both were used inconsistently).

- Later the different parts will become individual code objects that tailcall into one another.
- The mapcheck/symbol check still needs to be separated from the overall prototype-chain check so that the ICs can reuse the handlers.

dc9b817667 Send SIGPROF signals on the profiler event processor thread 
The patch is based on the previous one that was rolled out: https://code.google.com/p/v8/source/detail?r=12985

On Linux sampling for CPU profiler is initiated on the profiler event processor thread, other platforms to follow.

CPU profiler continues to use SamplingCircularQueue, we will replave it with a single sample buffer when Mac and Win ports support profiling on the event processing thread.

When --prof option is specified profiling is initiated either on the profiler event processor thread if CPU profiler is on or on the  SignalSender thread as it used to if no CPU profiles are being collected.

ProfilerEventsProcessor::ProcessEventsAndDoSample now waits in a tight loop, processing collected samples until sampling interval expires. To save CPU resources I'm planning to change that to use nanosleep as only one sample is expected in the queue at any point.

95c5e68714 Fix bogus regexp test. 
The reason this test fails on ARM hardware but not on Intel hardware
(including the ARM simulator) is this:
'\xa0' is interpreted as a negative signed byte number. Casting it to
uc16 sign-extends it. The resulting string does not fit into a one-byte
string, thus a two-byte string is allocated.
For some reason the code compiled for ARM does not sign-extend, and 0xa0
fits into a one-byte string. Thus a one-byte string is allocated. Trying
to cast it to two-byte causes assertion failure.

ce1e10f5fc Make __proto__ a foreign callback on Object.prototype. 
This moves the __proto__ property to Object.prototype and turns it into
a callback property actually present in the descriptor array as opposed
to a hack in the properties lookup. For now it still is a "magic" data
property using foreign callbacks and not an accessor property visible to
JavaScript.

The second effect of this change is that JSON.parse() no longer treats
the __proto__ property specially, it will be defined as any other data
property. Note that object literals still have their special handling.

30a4a798e5 Speed up non-interceptor case of Object.getOwnPropertyNames 
When there are interceptors on an object, it's possible to
end up with duplicate property names. But when all the names
are provided by v8, a collision is not possible, so we can
fast-path that case by not de-duping.

Also added better test coverage for interceptor API.

fb6776e84a Made Isolate a mandatory parameter for everything Handle-related. 
Unified parameter order of CreateHandle with the rest of v8 on the way. A few
Isolate::Current()s had to be introduced, which is not nice, and not every place
will win a beauty contest, but we can clean this up later easily in smaller steps.

250ebdc2be ARM: Change signature for vmov.32 function in the assembler 
The assembler has 8 different vmov variants. The one for vmov.32 and for moving
an immediate into a double reg only differs in the type of the second
paremeter: vmov.32 takes an int, the other takes a double.

The situation is dangerous because C++ will happily implicitly convert between
int and double.

This patch changes the signature of the vmov.32 assembler function so that it
cannot be confused with the other vmovs.

9bb68394a0 Fix code flusher disabling while marking incrementally. 
This fixes a corner case where the code flusher is disabled while the
incremental marker is still running. This can happen when the debugger
is loaded and a scavenge is triggered. Make sure that all flushing
decisions are revisited after the candidates lists are evicted.

ec0b001543 Work around nifty VS10 compiler bug 
VS10 generates bogus code for specific arguments to the Number::New function when invoked in specific places of an ExpectRecords array definition, passing a garbage value to the function (as printf debugging reveals). Changing the argument from 1 to 7 apparently circumvents the problem.

6ab7a23f6c Object.observe: use JSWeakMaps instead of raw ObjectHashTables in observation state 
object-observe.js uses weak maps to add "hidden" properties to
objects. Previously, the hash tables it was using weren't actually
weak. This patch changes the existing runtime functions to create
instances of JSWeakMap instead of exposing ObjectHashTable directly.

cd21056819 Fix corner case when JSFunction is evicted from flusher. 
This fixes a corner case that happens when JSFunctions are enqueued as
code flushing candidates but their respective SharedFunctionInfo isn't.
If the JSFunction gets evicted due to optimization the code slot in the
SharedFunctionInfo will never be recorded in the slots buffer.

c1e44f133d Always fail when trying to store to an undeclared global variable, even if it was found. 
Finding a property, but not using an IC, indicates that the variable was
found on the prototype (in DOMWindow). Those properties need to be
ignored while storing global properties via the IC.

fab9a39d9d Make the Isolate parameter mandatory in Locker and Unlocker classes. 
Note that leaving out the Isolate parameter previously had a very special
meaning, namely "use the *default* Isolate", i.e. the one magically created at
program initialization time. All other API entries use the meaning "current
Isolate", which is different in a multi-threaded setting and confusing.

Temporarily disabled deprecations until Chrome is ready.

1ac3949a93 Removed deprecated functions from v8's external API. 
Removed the following deprecated functions:

   * Object::GetPointerFromInternalField
   * Object::SetPointerInInternalField
   * External::Wrap
   * External::Unwrap
   * Context::GetData
   * Context::SetData

They have been deprecated in the 3.15 branch and are not used by Chrome anymore.
Furthermore, judging from bug reports and email threads, embedders like node.js
and others are already using 3.15, too. All removed API entries can be emulated
by a one-liner, so adapting should not be hard for anybody.

We want to introduce more deprecations soon, but to keep things simple and avoid
having old and not-so-old deprecations in v8.h, the 3.15 deprecations are now
removed.

In general, the strategy of keeping deprecated things for one stable release and
then removing them seems to be a good compromise between a maintenance nightmare
and annoying external embedders. :-)

b93b2b98b8 Fix shared function info code replacement. 
This fixes a corner case when the unoptimized code for a shared function
info is replaced while the function is enqueued as a flushing candidate.
Since the link field is stored within the code object, the candidates
list got destroyed.

4403daca1a ARM: generate integer zero in a uniform manner. 
ARM generated integer zero as either Operand(0, RelocInfo::NONE32), or
Operand(0), or Operand::Zero(). My change makes it use only
Operand::Zero().

This CL cleans up the RelocInfo::NONE usage by:
 - Using RelocInfo::IsNone when testing for NONE-ness.
 - Using NONE on 32-bit platforms (MIPS and IA32), and NONE64 on 64-bit
   platforms (x64).

This cleans up the code and prevents it from evolving bugs in the future
because NONE32 and NONE64 are used in misleading ways.

4cd41edcd9 Add methods to allow resuming execution after calling TerminateExecution(). 
Two new methods are added to allow embedders to determine that execution
should be resumed at a particular point in the stack without being forced
to unwind all JS frames.

* V8::ResumeExecution() -- When execution is terminated via a call to
  V8::TerminateExecution(), this method can be called to clear the
  termination exception so that the engine can continue to be used.

* TryCatch::HasTerminated() -- When a TryCatch has caught a termination
  exception, HasTerminated() will return true to indicate it is valid to
  call V8::ResumeExecution() if desired.

A test case is added to cctest/test-thread-termination.cc.

6b16d0bcae Make Object.observe on the global object functional 
The approach in this change is to handle the unwrapping/wrapping of the global object transparently with respect to the JS implementation of Object.observe. An alternate approach would be to add a runtime method like %IsJSGlobalProxy and %UnwrapJSGlobalProxy, but it seems ugly to give JS (even implementation JS) access to the unwrapped global.

cec0745aa2 Introduce callback for resolving global object name while taking heap snapshot 
Heap profiler currently gets "document" of global objects while taking snapshot (to later retrieve its "URL"). This is unsafe as there may be no current v8 context when the property is requested while corresponding property accessor may make some assumptions about the context stack during its invokation. Several crashes were reported due to this problem:

5966276d56 Change deprecated semantics of function template signatures. 
This changes how FunctionTemplate interprets a Signature that specifies
compatible receivers and arguments. Only the hidden prototype chain will
be considered when searching for compatible receivers. This prevents
JavaScript from modifying the inheritance relationship set up by the
embedder.

b21cf0208f Fix external exceptions in external try-catch handlers.

ce05280bfc Get rid of static module allocation, do it in code. 
Modules now have their own local scope, represented by their own context.
Module instance objects have an accessor for every export that forwards
access to the respective slot from the module's context. (Exports that are
modules themselves, however, are simple data properties.)

All modules have a _hosting_ scope/context, which (currently) is the
(innermost) enclosing global scope. To deal with recursion, nested modules
are hosted by the same scope as global ones.

For every (global or nested) module literal, the hosting context has an
internal slot that points directly to the respective module context. This
enables quick access to (statically resolved) module members by 2-dimensional
access through the hosting context. For example,

allocates contexts as follows:

Here, .A, .B, .C are the internal slots pointing to the hosted module
contexts, whereas A, B, C hold the actual instance objects (note that every
module context also points to the respective instance object through its
extension slot in the header).

To deal with arbitrary recursion and aliases between modules,
they are created and initialized in several stages. Each stage applies to
all modules in the hosting global scope, including nested ones.

1. Allocate: for each module _literal_, allocate the module contexts and
   respective instance object and wire them up. This happens in the
   PushModuleContext runtime function, as generated by AllocateModules
   (invoked by VisitDeclarations in the hosting scope).

2. Bind: for each module _declaration_ (i.e. literals as well as aliases),
   assign the respective instance object to respective local variables. This
   happens in VisitModuleDeclaration, and uses the instance objects created
   in the previous stage.
   For each module _literal_, this phase also constructs a module descriptor
   for the next stage. This happens in VisitModuleLiteral.

3. Populate: invoke the DeclareModules runtime function to populate each
   _instance_ object with accessors for it exports. This is generated by
   DeclareModules (invoked by VisitDeclarations in the hosting scope again),
   and uses the descriptors generated in the previous stage.

4. Initialize: execute the module bodies (and other code) in sequence. This
   happens by the separate statements generated for module bodies. To reenter
   the module scopes properly, the parser inserted ModuleStatements.

c203f05474 Delivery logic for Object.observe 
This CL has two parts: the first is the logic itself, whereby each observer callback is assigned
a "priority" number the first time it's passed as an observer to Object.observe(), and that
priority is used to determine the order of delivery.

The second part invokes the above logic as part of the API, when the JS stack winds down to
zero.

Added several tests via the API, as the delivery logic isn't testable from a JS test
(it runs after such a test would exit).

c54fc70f13 Store Object.observe state per-isolate rather than per-context 
This requires adding a new JSObject to the strong root list and populating it from
object-observe.js. The main other change is that we now directly use ObjectHashTable
from JS rather than using WeakMap, since using the latter would end up leaking whichever
Context initialized that observation state.

Added a test via the API showing that different contexts all end up working on the same state.

f3807ca17b Heavy cleanup of the external pointer API. 
Added highly efficient Object::SetAlignedPointerInInternalField and
Object::GetAlignedPointerFromInternalField functions for 2-byte-aligned
pointers. Their non-aligned counterparts Object::GetPointerFromInternalField and
Object::SetPointerInInternalField are now deprecated utility functions.

External is now a true Value again, with New/Value/Cast using a JSObject with an
internal field containing a Foreign. External::Wrap, and External::Unwrap are now
deprecated utility functions.

Added Context::GetEmbedderData and Context::SetEmbedderData. Deprecated
Context::GetData and Context::SetData, these are now only wrappers to access
internal field 0.

Added highly efficient Context::SetAlignedPointerInEmbedderData and
Context::GetAlignedPointerFromEmbedderData functions for 2-byte-aligned
pointers.

014f00fa51 Fix code flusher to process weak function links. 
This fixes a corner case where weak function links of the code flushing
candidates list were destroyed by scavenges that happened during
incremental marking. Now those weak function links are updated while
scavenging happens.

cee59bf522 Enable incremental code flushing. 
This enables code flushing even with incremental marking enabled and
fully shares the function link field in JSFunctions between candidates
for code flushing and the optimized functions list. If a candidate for
code flushing gets optimized, it will be evicted from the candidates
list.

In WebKit, we have a small integer cache because calling v8::Integer::New is
slow. This patch adds a faster API for creating integers that requires the
caller to supply the v8::Isolate, saving us the work of looking up the isolate
in thread-local storage.

9dc2c5b83d Add an API for enumerating persistent handles 
This API lets the embedder enumerate handles that have class ids. WebKit will
use this feature during garbage collection to compute object groups for DOM
nodes. Previously, we kept a list of DOM nodes on the WebKit side, but that
list is redundant with the global handles list in V8.

84935fb23a Fix missing slot recodring during clearing of CallICs.

5a8d1764bc Refactoring of snapshots. This simplifies and improves 
the speed of deserializing code.  The current startup
time improvement for V8 is around 6%, but code deserialization
is speeded up disproportionately, and we will soon have more
code in the snapshot.
* Removed support for deserializing into large object space.
  The regular pages are 1Mbyte now and that is plenty.  This
  is a big simplification.
* Instead of reserving space for the snapshot we actually
  allocate it now.  This removes some special casing from
  the memory management and simplifies deserialization since
  we are just bumping a pointer rather than calling the
  normal allocation routines during deserialization.
* Record in the snapshot how much we need to boot up and
  allocate it instead of just assuming that allocations in
  a new VM will always be linear.
* In the snapshot we always address an object as a negative
  offset from the current allocation point.  We used to
  sometimes address from the start of the deserialized data,
  but this is less useful now that we have good support for
  roots and repetitions in the deserialization data.
* Code objects were previously deserialized (like other
  objects) by alternating raw data (deserialized with memcpy)
  and pointers (to external references, other objects, etc.).
  Now we deserialize code objects with a single memcpy,
  followed by a series of skips and pointers that partially
  overwrite the code we memcopied out of the snapshot.
  The skips are sometimes merged into the following
  instruction in the deserialization data to reduce dispatch
  time.
* Integers in the snapshot were stored in a variable length
  format that gives a compact representation for small positive
  integers.  This is still the case, but the new encoding can
  be decoded without branches or conditional instructions,
  which is faster on a modern CPU.

ebd3241b05 Sharing of descriptor arrays. 
This CL adds multiple things:
Transition arrays do not directly point at their descriptor array anymore, but rather do so via an indirect pointer (a JSGlobalPropertyCell).

An ownership bit is added to maps indicating whether it owns its own descriptor array or not.

Maps owning a descriptor array can pass on ownership if a transition from that map is generated; but only if the descriptor array stays exactly the same; or if a descriptor is added.

Maps that don't have ownership get ownership back if their direct child to which ownership was passed is cleared in ClearNonLiveTransitions.

To detect which descriptors in an array are valid, each map knows its own NumberOfOwnDescriptors. Since the descriptors are sorted in order of addition, if we search and find a descriptor with index bigger than this number, it is not valid for the given map.

We currently still build up an enumeration cache (although this may disappear). The enumeration cache is always built for the entire descriptor array, even if not all descriptors are owned by the map. Once a descriptor array has an enumeration cache for a given map; this invariant will always be true, even if the descriptor array was extended. The extended array will inherit the enumeration cache from the smaller descriptor array. If a map with more descriptors needs an enumeration cache, it's EnumLength will still be set to invalid, so it will have to recompute the enumeration cache. This new cache will also be valid for smaller maps since they have their own enumlength; and use this to loop over the cache. If the EnumLength is still invalid, but there is already a cache present that is big enough; we just initialize the EnumLength field for the map.

When we apply ClearNonLiveTransitions and descriptor ownership is passed back to a parent map, the descriptor array is trimmed in-place and resorted. At the same time, the enumeration cache is trimmed in-place.

Only transition arrays contain descriptor arrays. If we transition to a map and pass ownership of the descriptor array along, the child map will not store the descriptor array it owns. Rather its parent will keep the pointer. So for every leaf-map, we find the descriptor array by following the back pointer, reading out the transition array, and fetching the descriptor array from the JSGlobalPropertyCell. If a map has a transition array, we fetch it from there. If a map has undefined as its back-pointer and has no transition array; it is considered to have an empty descriptor array.

When we modify properties, we cannot share the descriptor array. To accommodate this, the child map will get its own transition array; even if there are not necessarily any transitions leaving from the child map. This is necessary since it's the only way to store its own descriptor array.

- The global object has a reference to the current global scope chain.
  Running a script adds to the chain if it contains global lexical declarations.
- Scripts are executed relative to a global, not a native context.
- Harmony let and const bindings are allocated to the innermost global context;
  var and function still live on the global object.
  (Lexical bindings are not reflected on the global object at all,
  but that will probably change later using accessors, as for modules.)
- Compilation of scripts now needs a (global) context (previously only eval did).
- The global scope chain represents one logical scope, so collision tests take
  the chain into account.

15589fe22a Fix improved LoadICs for dictionaries with callbacks. 
This fixes the positive lookup performed by these LoadICs, to use the
holder instead of the receiver to perfrom the lookup on. It also extends
this improvement to KeyedLoadICs. And it fixes a bug introduced for the
JavaScript getter case of a LoadIC.

d53de0590a Swapped transition array and descriptor array. 
Now a map points to a transition array which contains the descriptor array. The descriptor array is now immutable. The next step is to share the descriptor array with all back-pointed maps as long as there is a single line of extension. Maps that require a descriptor array but don't need transitions will still need a pseudo-empty transition array to contain the descriptor array.

fa2287fa96 Force eager compilation of parenthesized functions. 
This makes the compiler use eager compilation for function literals that
are parenthesized. We consider this to be a hint that the function will
be called immediatly and hence try to avoid parsing it twice. The parser
already respects this heuristic.

1d0f872ef9 Fix full code generator to not use --debug-code if it is in 
mksnapshot or a VM that is booted from a snapshot.  --debug-code
can still have an effect on stub and optimized code and it still
works on the full code generator when running without snapshots.

The deoptimizer generates full-code-generator code and relies on it having
the same layout as last time.  This means that the code the full code
generator makes for the snapshot should be the same as the code it makes
later.  This change makes the full code generator create more consistent
code between mksnapshot time and run time.

This is a bug fix and a step towards making the snapshot code more robust.

This prevents creation of LoadICs or StoreICs for native callbacks on
objects in dictionary mode. Those ICs fail if the accessor is installed

2f43f5e9d7 MIPS: Rename "mips" arch to "mipsel" in the GYP build. 
In the traditional MIPS naming scheme, "mips" is used for
big-endian mips and "mipsel" is used for little-endian mips.
In V8 the "mips" build is little-endian, so the "mips" target is
renamed to "mipsel" to be compliant with the traditional MIPS
naming scheme.

This change is also required for supporting the Chromium project on MIPS.

d7a5b7d5e2 Separating transitions from descriptors. 
In this design maps contain descriptor arrays, which in turn can contain transition arrays. If transitions are needed when no descriptor array is present, a descriptor array without real descriptors is inserted just so it can point at the transition array.

The transition array does not contain details about the field it transitions to. In order to weed out transitions to FIELDs from CONSTANT_FUNCTION (what used to be MAP_TRANSITION vs CONSTANT_TRANSITION), the transition needs to be followed and the details need to be looked up in the target map. CALLBACKS transitions are still easy to recognize since the transition targets are stored as an AccessorPair containing the maps, rather than the maps directly.

Currently AccessorPairs containing a transition and an accessor are shared between the descriptor array and the transition array. This simplifies lookup since we only have to look in one of both arrays. This will change in subsequent revisions, when descriptor arrays will become shared between multiple maps, since transitions cannot be shared.

c22c7054f2 Add Makefile targets for running tests on Android. 
This allows to run tests on the attached Android device using
> make android.check
> make android.debug.check
> make android.release.check
> ANDROID_V8=/data/local/v8 TESTJOBS=-j4 make android.release.check -j10

Tests and binaries are copied to device location specified by the ANDROID_V8
variable and then tests are executed using the 'adb shell' program.

6cf640ab6c Adapt fragmentation heuristics for over reserved pages. 
This adapts the heuristics that detect fragmented pages to reduce memory
footprint for spaces with over reserved memory. This minimizes external
fragmentation caused by pages that cannot be released to the OS because
of just a few live objects on them.

9e4fbb45c1 One Zone per CompilationInfo. 
The CompilationInfo record now saves a Zone, and the compiler pipeline
allocates memory from the Zone in the CompilationInfo.  Before
compiling a function, we create a Zone on the stack and save a pointer
to that Zone to the CompilationInfo; which then gets picked up and
allocated from.

458e87fd05 Snapshots: Add --extra-code flag to mksnapshot which lets you specify a file 
with more JS code that is loaded into the VM before writing the snapshot.  Get
rid of the hard coded limit on the partial snapshot cache size.  This change
disables most of the serializer tests for the snapshot build of the VM: It's
getting too complicated to support both booting from a snapshot and then
creating a new snapshot from the same VM or loading more code with another
snapshot in the same VM.

This changes the compiler to be more aggressive about lazy compilation
of closures with non-trivial outer context. Compilation can only be
triggered with a valid outer context now. One exception is the debugger,
which can request compilation of arbitrary shared code, but it ensures
to trigger compilation only at points where no context is needed.

This relands r11782, r11783, r11790 and a minor fix.

for reasons that are not obvious.  Now we make objects into fast-case objects

3515559a38 Increase old space in cctest/test-api/HugeConsStringOutOfMemory test.

31a0d0257c Serialize edge counts instead of indexes in heap snapshot. 
The serialized node structure currently holds an index
of its first containment edge in the edges array.
The index can be quite big (up to 7 digits for large snapshots).
The patch changes the serialization format to pass
node containment edge count instead. For most nodes the count
is just a single digit number.
This reduces serialized snapshot size and therefore its transfer time.

e4c472a7af Implement correct checking for inherited readonliness on assignment. 
Removes 6 out of 8 of our remaining unintentional failures on test262.

Also fixes treatment of inherited setters added after the fact.

Specifically:

- In the runtime, when looking for setter callbacks in the prototype chain,
  also look for read-only properties. If one is found, reject (exception in
  strict mode). If a proxy is found, invoke proper trap.
  Note: this folds in the CanPut function from the spec and avoids an extra
  lookup over the prototype chain.

- In generated code for stores, insert a test for the maps from the prototype
  chain, but only up to the object where the property already exists (which
  may be the object itself).
  In Hydrogen, if the found property is read-only or not cacheable (e.g. a
  proxy), bail out; in a stub, generate an unconditional miss (to get an
  exception in strict mode).

- Add test cases and adapt existing test expectations.

ff216c9cea Re-land: Use map transitions when defining accessor properties. 
This is basically r11496, with the following changes:

 * Set back pointers in maps (cherry-picked from r11528)

 * Fixed size calculation in CopyInsert, as proposed by mstarzinger/rossberg

 * DefineFastAccessor uses GetCallbackObject instead of GetValue (for __proto__)

 * Put the code under a new flag, which is disabled by default

 * Cut down the corresponding regression test

 * Adapted bootup memory test, we actually only need a bit more memory on 64bit without snapshots, which can easily explained by more live maps lying around. Note that the snapshot variants are back to their previous limits.

Next steps: Investigate any performance degradationswith the flag enabled, and finally remove the flag when things are OK. Furthermore, GetCallbackObject should be merged into GetValue, the distinction is confusing and error-prone.

f9b93e6cc7 Implement map collection for incremental marking. 
This causes map transitions to be treated weakly during incremental
marking and hence allows clearing of non-live transitions. The marking
code is now shared between incremental and non-incremental mode.
