QGLTextureCache has a read write locker to protect texture lookups.
However, even calling QCache::object() might modify the cache, causing
race conditions, since it modifies the priority order of the objects in
the cache. Therefore, we need to protect it with a QWriteLocker instead
of a QReadLocker.

Creating and displaying a plain QGLWidget on Mac would
display "garbage" or previous frame buffer content
on screen. This looks broken and raises interesting
privacy concerns.
Fix by adding a call to glClear().

There are a lot of hacks here and there in Qt trying to align the
text in a correct way which caused regressions to appear once
the default coordinate system changed. We need to remove these
hacks to get a more consistent and maintainable base. This also
fixes the regression introduced by changing the aliased coordinate
system.

Use the Qt4CompatiblePainting render hint when painting with QPainter to
treat default constructed QPens as cosmetic still.
The NonCosmeticDefaultPen render hint gets documented as obsolete, since
it was in any case not respected by the raster nor OpenGL paint engine.

gl2ext.h only defines GL_APIENTRY and not APIENTRY so we should use
this macro if it is available. Without it, code that uses
QOPENGLF_APIENTRY and QGLF_APIENTRY might experience compile errors
due to the differing signatures.

qdocconf files can now reference $QT_INSTALL_DOCS to pick up e.g. global
includes, instead of using relative paths. Qt modules will automatically
get a doc target that builds and installs into the right place (including
supporting shadow-builds) if they set QMAKE_DOCS before loading(qt_module).

The function wglCreateContextAttribsARB will fail if we request a
context version higher than is supported. We therefore upper-bound the
requested version by the version of the static context. This results
in context creation succeeding and having the closest possible match
to the requested format.
The xcb qpa plugin is modified to operate similarly to the windows
plugin in that it now creates a "static" context which is used to
limit the versions of contexts requested by the user.

Instead of having QGLPixelBuffer be a unusable stub implementation we
deprecate it and implement it in terms of QOpenGLFramebufferObject.
Framebuffer objects are anyway the recommended replacement for
pixelbuffers in modern OpenGL, as the context switching overhead is
avoided.

When instatiating a QGLWidget in Qt5 at present it ignores the version
and profile information in the QGLFormat meaning that we always end up
with an OpenGL 2.x profile rather than what we asked for. This commit
properly takes the version and profile into account.

This is necessary so that QGLFormat::openGLVersionFlags() returns the
complete set of versions. Without this patch the temporary context
ends up obtaining an OpenGL 2.x context as the QPA plugins now prefer
to use the ARB {wgl,glx}CreateContextAttribsARB function which creates
contexts of the specified version (2.0 for a default QSurfaceFormat).

This corrects the mismatch between using floats for internal storage
and qreal in the API of QVector*D which leads to lots of implicit
casts between double and float.
This change also stops users from being surprised by the loss of
precision when using these classes on desktop platforms and removes
the need for the private constructors taking a dummy int as the final
argument.
The QMatrix4x4 and QQuaternion classes have been changed to use float
for their internal storage since these are meant to be used in
conjunction with the QVector*D classes. This is to prevent unexpected
loss of precision and to improve performance.
The on-disk format has also been changed from double to float thereby
reducing the storage required when streaming vectors and matrices. This
is potentially a large saving when working with complex 3D meshes etc.
This also has a significant performance improvement when passing
matrices to QOpenGLShaderProgram (and QGLShaderProgram) as we no
longer have to iterate and convert the data to floats. This is
an operation that could easily be needed many times per frame.
This change also opens the door for further optimisations of these
classes to be implemented by using SIMD intrinsics.

The Khronos group makes the glext.h (Desktop OpenGL) and gl2ext.h
(OpenGL ES2) headers officially available nowadays. Most (all?)
Linux systems ship this by default. On Windows platforms the
glext.h file needs to be downloaded from
http://www.opengl.org/registry/api/glext.h
and placed alongside the system OpenGL header.
Making use of the official header reduces the maintenance
overhead for OpenGL support in Qt by removing the need to copy
and paste definitions into the Qt sources.
As the Khronos-provided headers are standardised and backwards and
forwards compatible we can utilise these for all platforms rather
than just for Windows. This means that all definitions required
by Qt will be present even if the system ships out-dated
equivalents.
Mac OS X needs special handling in that we should always use the
system-provided headers there. This is because Apple controls the
OpenGL driver and the headers that go along with it. As such there
is no possibility that the driver exposes additional functionality
compared with the system-provided OpenGL headers. Apple has also
decided to make different decisions about some OpenGL typedefs
compared to other implementations. For example, Apple typdefs
GLhandleARB to void* whereas other platforms use unsigned int.
The alternative, which is to use the system provided glext.h (or
gl2ext.h) header means that Qt code would need to check for the
availability of such definitions wherever it is not guaranteed
to be provided by core OpenGL/ES just to compile.
The proposed approach means that Qt can compile regardless of
the system's OpenGL extension support. We just need to be
rigourous in runtime checking of support for extensions but
that is already a requirement (and is missing in a few places,
see TODO's added in this commit).
The official Khronos headers are added to Qt as
qopenglext.h - Desktop OpenGL
qopengles2ext.h - OpenGL ES2
They need to be public but not part of QtGui module include, hence
the headers have been modified by adding
#if 0
#pragma qt_no_master_include
#endif
to them.
This has been tested on:
Gentoo Linux with GCC 4.6.3
Windows 7 with MSVC 2010
Mac OSX 10.8 with Apple clang 4.0 (based on LLVM 3.1svn)
QNX with qcc (based on GCC 4.4)
A small change is needed to QtDeclarative when building for OpenGL
ES 2 after applying this commit. See

during a program run are much more efficient, since an inlined
atomic is used to store the result. For this, it requires

QtPlatformSupport is a static library. It should never export
anything, so Q_PLATFORMSUPPORT_EXPORT is unnecessary.
QtSql, QtXml, QtDBus, QtOpenGL and QtPrintSupport now have the macros
on their own source trees. It's possible these modules might be
separated out from qtbase in the future. For QtDBus, the macros are
moving back to where they used to be. This also leaves qglobal.h only
creating the macros for QtCore, QtGui, QtWidgets and QtNetwork, the
core libraries.
Q_CANVAS_EXPORT, Q_OPENVG_EXPORT and Q_COMPAT_EXPORT aren't used
anywhere in the Qt sources, so simply delete them. And the
Q_QUICK1_EXPORT macro in the static section was wrong, so remove it
too.

The main reasons for doing this are:
1. _qpa.h end up in the master QtGui include file. QtGui is meant for
userland applications. qpa code is neither binary nor source compatible.
Inadvertant use of QPA api makes the user code binary-incompatible.
2. syncqt creates forwarding headers for non-private header files. This
gives people the impression that this is public API.
As discussed on the mailing list, even though QPA api is internal and subject
to change, it needs to treated differently from private headers since they
will be used by in-qtbase and out-of-qtbase plugins.
This commit does the following:
1. The _qpa in QPA header files is dropped.
2. syncqt now treats any file with qplatform prefix as a special file and
moves it to qpa/ directory. The recommended way of using QPA API in plugins
is: #include <qpa/qplatformfoo.h>. This allows the user include QPA API
from multiple modules (for example, qplatformfoo might be in QtPrintSupport)
3. The user needs to explicitly add QT += <module>-private to get access to
the qpa api.
4. Creates compat headers for the olden style qplatformfoo_qpa.h and QPlatformFoo
includes.
This commit does not change the cpp filenames. This requires a more careful
merging of existing non qpa cpp files and existing cpp files on a case by
case basis. This can be done at anytime.

Since change 2e4d8f67a8 the need for Map and Unmap events has
gone away, as now the Expose event is used to notify the application
about when it can start rendering.
The Map and Unmap events weren't really used except by QWidget to set
the WA_Mapped flag, which we now set based on the expose / unexpose.
Also guarantee that a Resize event is always sent before the first
Expose, by re-introducing an asynchronous expose event handler. Since
an expose is required before rendering to a QWindow, show a warning if
QOpenGLContext::swapBuffers() or QBackingStore::flush() if called on a
window that has not received its first expose.

When an OpenGL Core Profile context is requested the function
glGetStringi() is used to query the supported extensions as
glGetString(GL_EXTENSIONS) has been removed in the core profile.
The signature for glGetStringi used in Qt missed off the APIENTRY calling
convention. This results in stack corruption on windows each time
glGetStringi() is called leading to a crash.

glyphMargin() support for QTextureGlyphCache is implemented in
respective font engines, thus this function is platform dependent.
Before Qt 5 the code is guarded in macros like #ifdef Q_WS_MAC,
now we should move them into QFontEngine and its subclasses.
So far only Windows font engines support it. FreeType and Core Text
based font engines all ignore it.

The GPU in question supports GL 2 but not framebuffer objects. Since we
anyway have a font rendering path that doesn't use FBOs we might as well
not require framebuffer objects in order to use the GL 2 engine.

We're trying to deprecate these, so don't use them anymore.
The inline uses of these have been left intact, for the moment. Inline code will

Move subpixelPositionForX from QTextureGlyphCache to QFontEngine,
since some font engines like QFontEngineFT may need a custom
implementation or tweak it a little bit.
In QRasterPaintEngine::drawCachedGlyphs, do not add aliasedCoodinate
to x offset as that will break subpixel positioning.

ES 1.0 didn't have glTexParameteri, which is why we sometimes used
glTexParameterf. However, we shouldn't use glTexParameterf because
that's treating integer values as floating point, which is not type
safe. ES 1.1+ and ES 2.x have glTexParameteri, and we don't really care
about supporting ES 1.0 in any case in Qt 5.

QPlatformIntegration::screens() no longer has to be implemented,
implementations should call QPlatformIntegration::screenAdded() for each
screen instead. This is for being able to support adding screens at
run-time later on, by connecting it to a signal in QGuiApplication.
The QGuiGLContext API has changed a bit, by not sending in all the
parameters in the constructor but instead having a create() function.
The createPlatformGLContext() factory in QPlatformIntegration takes a
QGuiGLContext * instead of a QSurfaceFormat and a share context, similar
to how the window and backing store factory functions work.
The XCB plugin has experimental support for connecting to multiple X
displays simultaneously, creating one or more QScreen for each.

That macro is a nightmare. It leads to writing code that is
thread-unsafe or other problems. So rewrite the code that used this
macro to use special-purpose classes with constructors.
This commit does not introduce new errors. The FIXME in qicon.cpp
(qtIconCache()) was a condition already present. It does fix the race
conditions that were present in qbrush.cpp nullBrushInstance() and
qfontengine.cpp qt_grayPalette().
Specialising QGlobalStatic is also evil.

This works as a band-aid and optimization for QT-5104, because in the
text in the example, which contains latin text and has a latin default
font set, will think of all spaces between the cyrillic characters as
latin characters, hence it will make separate text items for them and
issue separate glDrawElements() calls. By cutting off if there are no
glyphs to draw, we can avoid hitting the actual bug for this and several
other use cases, making it less likely to happen.

Rename QGuiGLFormat to QSurfaceFormat, and make QWindow sub-class of
QSurface and QPlatformWindow sub-class of QPlatformSurface, instead of
having QPlatformGLSurface accessor in QWindow.
To enable having a single GL context used for multiple drawables we need
to de-couple the context class a bit more from the window class in the
plugin API. Now contexts are created stand-alone based on a GL format
and a share context, and when calling makeCurrent() a desired surface
is specified. This maps well to GLX, EGL, Cocoa, AGL, and WGL, which all
support this use case.
QWindowContext is renamed to QGuiGLContext, and QWindowFormat is renamed
to QGuiGLFormat. We have the ability to introduce a pbuffer or similar
other offscreen GL drawable abstraction in the future.
This enables external modules to also make use of them without having
access to the complete QtBase source code.

QStaticText had an implicit risk which meant you had to make sure the
text size did not grow unreasonably large. This was intended to avoid
hiding the performance impact of using QStaticText for such a purpose,
but it's too inconvenient. Thus, the same fall back as in drawTextItem()
has been introduced. This will also fix a bug recently introduced when
we started using the FT cache to draw static text in the raster engine,
since this will fail for large fonts.

Without this change a not yet created share widget is created
once qt_destroy_gl_share_widget() is called. As creating the
widget also triggers a call to qt_cleanup_gl_share_widget() once
QApplication is destroyed a QApplication created afterwards
cannot use a share widget anymore.
This functionality is needed for Harmattan.

Flushing native child widgets in VG and GL window
surfaces caused performance downgrade because unnecessary
swapBuffers calls. On Symbian we must not support flushing
native child widgets in VG and GL window surfaces because
it causes GPU memory overhead and performance issues. Symbian
graphics architecture allows us to render native child widgets
to TLW EGL surface correctly in most of the cases.

If the SRGB framebuffer extension in GL is available, we can support
gamma correction of text with a gamma of 2.1. On Mac this is
sufficient for gamma correcting subpixel antialiased text. Gray
antialiasing should not be gamma corrected on Mac.
On Windows, the user can potentially set the gamma value to anything
between 1.0 and 2.2 (or something like that). We support anything
that resembles 1.0 closely enough by pushing the text out without
any correction (like before). We also support anything that resembles
2.1 (the gamma hardcoded in GL's SRGB extension) by turning on the
extension before blending the text. In between the two, we'll use
gray antialiasing to avoid differing too much from the raster engine
(which is our reference in this.)
For gray antialiasing on Windows, we use a constant gamma of 2.3 which
has been determined by experimentation. Since this is close enough to
2.1 we do gamma correction with SRGB extension.
The distance limit of 0.2 is determined by some experimentation.
