This is an attempt to fuzz the usage of SkSurfaceCharacterization,
SkDeferredDisplayRecorder, and SkDeferredDisplayList.
This fuzzer first makes a surface and characterization from
GrDirectContext and then create a DDL and draw it on the surface.
The code is compiled with ninja and run with AFL at the speed around
600/sec
The future changes will include:
1. An alternative way to create DDL: first create the surface and
extract the characterization from that existing surface.
2.currently we just pass the ownership of the DDL into draw_ddl. In
the future we should add a version that retains ownership of the DDL
in order to fuzz the lifetime of the DDL.
3. Refactorize line 62-119

I spent a little time working on adding the --dylib JIT
mode to Windows where we'd shell out to Clang to make a .dll,
but then I remembered this VTune JIT API.
That dylib approach is nice for working with a wide range
of tools (perf, Instruments, gdb, etc.), but when your only
need is Vtune, this API is actually the best option. You
get your profiler aware of your JIT'd code with way less
overhead than the shell-then-dlopen approach.
If we need to expand to more tools I'll go make the dylib
mode work, but I think this is good enough to make me happy
on Windows for now.
This should look really similar to
https://skia-review.googlesource.com/c/skia/+/255124.

The major improvement is that now the fuzzer is able to execute
the sksl code (before it just compiled it). The fuzzer will
reserve 256 bytes for providing uniforms to the shader;
meanwhile, the fuzzer will read the remaining bytes as sksl code
to create SkRuntimeEffect. It then creates a shader and executes
it by painting the shader on a canvas.
The code was tested locally with afl-fuzz, and the execution
speed was around 700/sec.
An alternative implementation would have been using Fuzz.h to
read bytes; I decided to go with sk_sp<SkData> since it has a
comparable format to other binary fuzzer and meets all the
functionality in this fuzzer.
For future changes, there are 2 important improvements to the
implementation:
1) Current shader does not have children shaders; thus,
makeShader() will fail if the SkSL ever tries to use an 'in shader'.
As pointed out in patchset 11, after creating the runtime effect,
effect->children().count() will tell you how many children it's
expecting (how many 'in shader' variables were declared). When you
call makeShader(), the second and third arguments are a
(C-style) array of shader pointers, and
a count (which must match children().count()).
Some helpful examples can be SkRTShader::CreateProc in
SkRuntimeEffect.cpp, make_fuzz_shader in FuzzCanvas.cpp.
2)
In this fuzzer, after creating the paint from a shader, the paint
can be drawn on either GPU canvas or CPU, so a possible way is to
use SkSurface::MakeRenderTarget to create GPU canvas and use a byte
to determine which canvas it will be drawn on.

In 75626e4b1a "Regularize selection of fontmgr." a clever change was
made which allowed the skia_fontmgr_factory to be specified as a source
file to allow the user to specify which factory to use. Unfortunately
this implies that the Skia target which uses this source does not know
which other targets (like fontmgr targets) to depend on. A factory
target must generally depend on the target which provides the widget the
factory makes.
This change puts all the current factories into targets of their own so
that they can depend on whatever they need. The skia_fontmgr_factory is
now the name of a target which is the sole public member of the
:fontmgr_factory target. Users can now specify a particular fontmgr
target to build into Skia as the default instead of simply specifying a
source file.
The fontmgr_fontconfig target now also properly publicly depends on the
fontconfig target since it has a public header which includes
fontconfig.h.

There can be only one SkFontMgr::Factory, so each should go in its own
translation unit. In addition, the name SkFontHost_mac is now rather out
of date and should now be SkFontMgr_mac_ct. Since the additional burden
of additional build changes after the first is minimal, also split out
SkTypeface_mac_ct and SkScalerContext_mac_ct. The original
SkFontHost_mac.cpp is kept as a shell which #includes the cpp files
which are replacing it. Once references to it are removed from all
builds it can be removed.
This is intended to be a reorganization without much code change. Most
changes are simple renaming of functions which are now shared between
translation units. However, there are a few behavior changes here.
* Drop SkTypefaceCache global for SkTypeface_Mac 'local' global.
* SkCTFontCTWidthForCSSWidth returns CGFloat instead of 'int'.
* SkFontMgr_New_CoreText takes a CTFontCollectionRef.

Apple's Clang has a bug rooted in these three conflicting constraints:
A) before we save a large amount of state to the stack, call
__chkstk_darwin() to um, do something to make that safe. It's
some sort of debug feature that involves marking various pages
as writable and unwritable to catch stack overflows.
B) before calling any function that doesn't use AVX, which includes
__chkstk_darwin(), call vzeroupper as a performance enhancement
C) we must save a large amount of state to the stack before it's
sound to call vzeroupper, so it can be restored after the
function call. Otherwise the upper 128 bits of all ymm registers
will be lost, zeroed.
There's no way to order A,B, and C to make them all happy.
Saving registers before zeroing them (C) is a correctness issue, so it's
got to take precedence. Zeroing the upper bits of ymm registers before
calling into code that's not ymm-aware (B) is a performance issue only,
and not actually even needed for __chkstk_darwin(). The whole
__chkstk_darwin() thing (A) is nice a safety feature we'll have to live
without.
The best fix would be to make it so that Clang doesn't issue vzeroupper
before __chkstk_darwin(), but we can't do that here. The next best
thing, since mucking with correctness isn't really viable, is to turn of
the stack checking.
Until now we've been using -O1 to reduce the stack usage down low enough
that the stack check calls are not generated. Maybe there's a known
safe single page, and the call's only needed when going above that?
Anyway, let's try focusing our workaround on -fstack-check itself.

This will make it clear that these files are for Android use and
avoid compiling them for other clients.
Update testing tools to use android::skia::BitmapRegionDecoder, but
only if SK_ENABLE_ANDROID_UTILS is defined.
Take this opportunity to clean up the class:
- The base class, which was originally designed to allow switching
amongst different implementations, is no longer needed. Rename
SkBitmapRegionCodec to android::skia::BitmapRegionDecoder
(following the new convention and matching the Java API name).
Continue to inherit from SkBitmapRegionDecoder temporarily, to
allow Android to switch to the new API.
- Use std::unique_ptr instead of passing raw pointers.
Add a test to verify that we only create a BitmapRegionDecoder if
it is one of the supported types.

Deliberately do not include client_utils in Google3, since the whole

On certain older versions of the Clang toolchain, the use of the API_AVAILABLE
macro on symbols in C++ translation units causes the visibility of those
symbols to me treated as default instead of the hidden. This causes internal
symbols to be exposed from release dylibs.
This mechanism allows users of the toolchains that have not been updated to the
latest versions to disable the use of the macro in release configurations.

Remember this bug where things would draw completely
right then wrong then right then wrong in vertical
stripes, that boiled down to an inappropriate call
to vzeroupper before some Mac-specific stack checks?
At the time we thought it was limited to only AVX
code, but of course it applies to AVX2 as well.
This removes pinstripes from many GMs when at -O0.

Adds a new structure to describe the inputs, including type,
shape, name, etc. This removes any references to the type
variables in the compiler's context, and centralizes the
logic for parsing those type variables.
Also normalizes the rules for what types are supported.
(This was inconsistent among the various functions before).
Now:
- bool and int must be 'in'
- float may be 'in' or 'uniform'
- float[2-4] and matrices must be 'uniform'
Includes a new Slide that allows for interactive editing
of a runtime shader.

There's no prebuilt libjitprofiling.so in the VTune SDK,
so I couldn't make this entirely automagic. To enable set
skia_vtune_path = "/opt/intel/vtune_amplifier"
or obviously to wherever your VTune is installed. Looking at
the source for jitprofiling.c, which is in the SDK, it might
be possible to replicate and make this more automatic, but I
think it's easy enough to just set a GN path variable.
For an assembly-level profile, leave this VTune option disabled:

sk_x and sk_y appear to never be used? Those builtin IDs are the IDs

sk_OutColor only makes sense in FP files (it's still declared in

I happened to have this on when profiling skottie_tool and got curious
why I was seeing the interpreter run and not JIT code. Mostly this
moves the code in bulk out of SkVMTest.cpp to SkVM.cpp so that code in
SkVM.cpp can call dump() on itself.
Also this CL has the skvm::Program hang onto the original value-based
builder program (in addition to its own interpreter program and JIT
program if we can). This is entirely so that when JIT bails out I
can have it dump out both the builder and interpreter programs for
more debugging aid.
I'm still going to need more debug tools somewhere to figure out
what the program that needs 17 registers is, and what to do about
it.
Finally, remove skvmtool. It's annoying to maintain its build
rules, and I don't use it much if ever anymore.

Add BUILD.gn for dawn and dawn/third_party libraries.
(Note that I had to split the declare_args() section of BUILD.gn
into two, so that I could refer to skia_use_dawn in skia_enable_spirv_validation.
If there's a better way to do this, I'm open to suggestions.)

That's everything! We're fully in control now, and should be able to

The Fuchsia SDK can now be consumed by non-Fuchsia buildroots to produce
Fuchsia artifacts.
The Fuchsia SDK comes with a JSON manifest that describes the various SDK
"parts". GN targets are stamped for each of these parts. The location of these
GN targets can be configured. That location is set to |fuchsia_sdk_root| in
each buildroot. This variable is defined in //build/fuchsia/sdk.gni in each
buildroot. For buildroots that don't care or know about the Fuchsia SDK, that
file may not exist. This is why, the import of that file is guarded behind
the is_fuchsia flag. When the Fuchsia SDK is enabled, that file will define
values for two required variable |using_fuchsia_sdk| and |fuchsia_sdk_root|.
The first flag defines if the SDK is being used. If unset (but defined), the
builds are in-tree. Eventually we want only SDK builds. |fuchsia_sdk_root|
is set to the spot in the buildroot where the GN targets for the SDK parts
are stamped.

- added tools/rewrite_includes.py
- removed -Idirectives from BUILD.gn
- various compile.sh simplifications
- tweak tools/embed_resources.py
- update gn/find_headers.py to write paths from the top
- update gn/gn_to_bp.py SkUserConfig.h layout
so that #include "include/config/SkUserConfig.h" always
gets the header we want.

Replace make_gmkb.go with two small programs: `goldgetter.py` and
`make_skqp_model.cpp`.
`make_skqp_model` uses Skia to create the model from a bunch of images.
`goldgetter` wraps `make_skqp_model` and handles:
- json parsing
- downloading images from gold
- multiprocessing

Similar to the Skottie refactor that just landed, this avoids having an
empty component when shaper is disabled (which turns into a DLL with no
sources, and a missing DllMain). I think this pattern of having modules
expose the same components as empty groups is simpler (and also fixes
the fact that only two of N references in top-level BUILD.gn were
guarded). Also, no one is using the define?

"as long as I was looking at the specs", but only 1.0
is really supported.
This seems to resolve the bug where some GPUs weren't
advertising correctly that they had vertex array object
support, by checking for both extension names (with and
without "GL_" prefix)
Of note, this saves about 18 Kb (5.5 Kb gzipped) of code size
by compiling out the unneeded GLES checks/functionality.

FM's a bit like DM, and a bit like the old GM tool, maybe closer to GM.
FM always does one serial run through of a list of GM, image, or .skp
sources (-s/--sources) into one drawing configuration, set at a high
level with -b/--backend, fine-tuned by flags like --ct, --at, --gamut,
--samples, etc.
FM prints all available GMs when run with no arguments, part of
how it integrates well with external parallelization like xargs:
out/fm | time xargs -n4 -P32 out/fm -b cpu ... -s
out/fm | time xargs -n32 -P8 out/fm -b gl ... -s
ls *.skp | xargs ... out/fm ... -s
...

Motivation: it would be a good idea if the API documentation examples
were checked into the skia repository, so we could make sure they
compile as part of the commit queue.
Fiddle would make/update a named fiddle each time it gets a new
commit of Skia, extracted from the code in the examples/ directory.
The docs would point at those named fiddles. Named fiddles have urls
in the form:
https://fiddle.skia.org/c/@Bitmap_000
Then we would stick a link to the example into the header documentation
like this:
/** Allocates the pixel memory for the bitmap, given its dimensions
and SkColorType. Returns true on success, where success means
either setPixels() or setPixelRef() was called.
@param bitmap SkBitmap containing SkImageInfo as input, and
SkPixelRef as output
@return true if SkPixelRef was allocated
@example https://fiddle.skia.org/c/@Bitmap_000
*/
bool allocPixelRef(SkBitmap* bitmap) override;
There are still around 200 disabled examples that need to be fixed
(these result from API changes since the author left).

This adds a new "Particles" slide to viewer, that allows
editing, loading, and saving particle effects. All of the
particle system code is in modules/particles.
There are many rough edges and some not-yet-finished changes
to generalize the model[1]. A rough overview:
- SkReflected.h implements a lightweight reflection system
for classes derived from SkReflected. Adding a new class
involves deriving from SkReflected, adding a macro to the
class declaration, and implementing visitFields(), which
simply calls a virtual on an SkFieldVisitor for each field.
Currently, emitters and affectors use this mechanism.
- SkParticleSerialization.h demonstrates two useful field
visitors - for serializing to and from JSON. The driver
code that uses those is directly in ParticlesSlide.
- SkParticleData.h and SkCurve.h define a variety of helper
types for talking about particles, both for parameterizing
individual values, and communicating about the state of a
particle among the effect, affectors, and emitters.
- SkParticleEffect.h defines the static data definition of
an effect (SkParticleEffectParams), as well as a running
instance of an effect (SkParticleEffect). The effect has
simple update() and draw() methods.
- ParticlesSlide.cpp adds a third field visitor to generate
GUIs for interactively editing the running effect.
---
1: The critical change I'd like to make is to remove all
special case behavior over time and at spawn (setting sprite
frames, size over time, color over time, etc...). Integration
is the only fixed function behavior. Everything else is driven
by two lists of affectors. One is applied at spawn time, using
the effect's lifetime to evaluate curves. This allows spawning
particles with different colors as the effect ages out, for
example. The second list is applied every frame to update
existing particles, and is driven by the particle's lifetime.
This allows particles to change color after being spawned, for
example.
With a small set of affectors using a single expressive curve
primitive (keyframed list of cubic curve segments), we can
have affectors that update color, size, velocity, position,
sprite frame, etc., and implement many complex behaviors.

This was the most straight-forward way I could think of to
accomplish this. An ideal solution would "compile" a set of

domain knowledge to craft such a set.
If this method works ok, we can explore making the font set

In SkEncodeImage and friends, treat quality of 100 as a lossless encode
when using kWEBP. This seems a good fit for the intent - which is
presumably to save the highest quality image. This also matches
Chromium's blink::ImageEncoder::ComputeWebpOptions, which treats a
quality of 1 (on a float scale from 0 to 1) as a lossless encode.
FWIW, Chromium has had this behavior since
https://codereview.chromium.org/1937433002, in response to
crbug.com/523098. The goal is to "maintain sharpness to
match the JPEG encoder behavior (use WEBP lossless encoding)".
Add a test to verify the new behavior. This requires making tests
depend on libwebp to use WebPGetFeatures, since the Skia API does not
provide a way to determine whether an encoded webp file was encoded
lossless-ly or lossily.

Bug: b/118742766
Update gn_to_bp to write an Android.bp file that will build a host-side
Skia library.
Switch some methods from SK_BUILD_FOR_ANDROID to
SK_BUILD_FOR_ANDROID_FRAMEWORK.
Prior reviews were done at ag/5482397.
gn_to_bp.py:
- Run GN twice - once for android and once for linux
- Disable GPU (depends on a to-be-written host side GL target) and HEIF
(which relies on Android hardware) on linux
- TODO: Turn on GPU on linux
- Split sources into everywhere, android-only, and linux-only.
It seems that Android.bp does not allow using the same cpp
file in multiple targets.
- note that we currently *only* divide out the sources. The cflags are
the same (except for a couple manual ones) and include
directories are mostly the same (again, except for manual ones).
Android has a "gpu" include directory, which I don't expect to
make a difference to the linux build, which isn't using GPU (yet).
- Use the same "custom empty" font manager on the host as on Android
- Write separate SkUserConfig files; one for android and one for linux.
This allows libskia to force libraries that use it to use the right
defines by setting export_include_dirs.
- Add extra checks to SkUserConfig.h to ensure we have only the
appropriate SK_BUILD_FOR macro defined
- Add host_supported: true for libskia
gn_to_bp_utils.py:
- Switch SkUserConfig.h from include guards to pragma once so it is
easier to append to the end. This matches how Android generally
includes headers.
BUILD.gn:
- Add skia_use_fixed_gamma_text so host build can use the same SK_GAMMA
defines as the device.
SkPreConfig.h:
- Stop making SK_BUILD_FOR_ANDROID_FRAMEWORK imply SK_BUILD_FOR_ANDROID.
The host build needs the former defined but not the latter.
SkRegion.cpp/.h:
- Make toString() SK_BUILD_FOR_ANDROID_FRAMEWORK so it can be called on
the host.
SkCamera.h/.cpp:
- Switch methods to SK_BUILD_FOR_ANDROID_FRAMEWORK so they can be called
on the host.
- Make getCameraLocation*() const. They are logically const, and this
allows removing a const_cast + TODO in hwui.

The Android Framework does not need SkFontMgr_android*. Switch it to
using SkFontMgr_custom*. This will also be the SkFontMgr to use when
we're building Skia as a host-side library.
BUILD.gn:
- Rename fontmgr_fuchsia to fontmgr_custom_empty so it can be selected
specifically by the Android Framework build. Default condition is
unchanged, so fuchsia will still build it.
- Similarly, create a new argument for fontmgr_android and
fontmgr_custom, so they can be omitted by the Android Framework build.
Again, default condition is unchanged, so no other builds should be
affected.
gn_to_bp.py:
- Set the new arguments to build the files we want.
